Prolonged fever with pancytopenia and hepatosplenomegaly is a clinical entity frequently encountered by physicians. The diagnosis of such cases is challenging due to the diversity of differential diagnoses. ⋯ Most of the patients are young men and the majority are associated with chronic immunosuppression. We report a 40-year-old immunocompetent woman with prolonged fever and pancytopenia due to hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma.

We report a 46-year-old woman with disseminated Mycobacterium abscessus infection who was on maintenance haemodialysis for chronic glomerulonephritis. Prolonged blood cultures yielded growth of a rapid-growing nontubercular Mycobacterium. Diagnosis to a species level guided empirical therapy while we awaited antimicrobial susceptibility results. The patient was treated successfully with a multidrug regimen.

Background. We assessed the balance between the number of publications required by medical teachers and the publication space available in the Indian medical journals. Methods. ⋯ These journals cumulatively published a total of 8508 eligible publications in 2019. Conclusion. The publication space in Indian medical journals is limited, thus there is a need to have a national medical repository such as MedRxiv to prevent publication in predatory journals.
