The leaves of Origanum are widely used in herbal medicine hence of having many beneficial ingredients, one of these important compounds is Carvacrol. The inhibitory effect of Carvacrol was the core of this study by applying different kinds of stimulants to smooth muscles in the wall of thoracic aorta in rats. ⋯ The addition of Carvacrol in the experimental rats showed an increase in the thickness of tunica media as evident by the number of smooth muscle layers and laminae of elastic fibers. It was found that Carvacrol reduced the vascular smooth muscle contractility in the rat thoracic aorta. The mechanism of action is presumed to be achieved through interfering with the mobilization of both intracellular and extracellular Ca2+ through different receptors. Furthermore, it might be suggested that Carvacrol in high doses stimulates smooth muscles in the wall of aorta leading to an increase in the thickness of tunica media layer.

Review Case Reports
Rupture of a non sinus of Valsalva aneurysm during pregnancy: Case report and review of literatures.
Ruptured Sinus of Valsalva aneurysms during pregnancy is rare and presents a threat both to the mother and the fetus. We report a case of ruptured nonsinus of Valsalva aneurysms in a 26-year-old woman diagnosed at 32+4 weeks of gestation. ⋯ A successful surgical correction of the ruptured aneurysm under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) was performed with patch repair after 13 days. A multidisciplinary approach with respect to the pregnant patient's diagnosis, indications, and timing of surgery is necessary in ensuring the best possible outcomes for both the mother and the child.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Analgesic effect of erector spinae plane block after cesarean section: A randomized controlled trial.
Ultrasound-guided bilateral erector spinae plane block is also a technique for providing analgesia after a cesarean section. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided bilateral ESP provided adequate postoperative analgesia and significantly decreased postoperative fentanyl consumption in patients having cesarean section. Also, it has a longer analgesia time than the control group, and it has been shown to delay the first analgesic requirement.

The characteristics of premature infants vary from country to country rendering it challenging to apply retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) screening algorithm globally. The screening criteria for postnatal growth and ROP (G-ROP) for preterm infants are known to be beneficial, but it is not clear whether these criteria can be used universally. ⋯ G-ROP 2 was more sensitive than G-ROP 1 for identifying infants who required treatment and could potentially reduce the burden of ROP screening.

Observational Study
Injury severity score as a predictor of mortality in patients with abdominal trauma at a tertiary Nigerian hospital.
Abdominal trauma is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in low-and middle-income countries. Typical patients present late and very sick with early recognition key to improving outcome. There is a paucity of trauma data in this environment and trauma scoring systems which have been validated in the developed world are yet to find widespread use here. ⋯ ISS was a good predictor of morbidity and mortality in abdominal trauma in patients in this study. A prospective study with standardized abdominal imaging would be needed to further validate this scoring tool.
