Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) has been linked to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and metabolic syndrome (MetS). Works on AGA, cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) and MetS are rare among Nigerians. ⋯ AGA in Nigerians is associated with dyslipidaemia, alcohol intake, and sedentary lifestyle. AGA severity is related to age, higher mean SBP, abdominal obesity and low HDL-c in male and age, and Body mass index in females. Nigerians with AGA should be screened for dyslipidaemia and counseled against the use of alcohol and sedentary lifestyle.

This study aimed to determine the diagnostic performance and utility of chest radiography in relation to chest computed tomography (CT) in nontraumatic respiratory emergency patients. ⋯ The consistency between the chest XR and CT was more likely in patients aged <40 years and for PA and moderate-to-high quality chest XR views, as compared to older patients and AP and poor-quality views, respectively. We suggest that an upright position PA chest X-ray with high imaging quality may be the first choice, especially in patients aged <40 years admitted to the emergency department with respiratory symptoms.

The impact of meteorological factors on the spread of COVID-19.
Clinical studies suggest that warmer climates slow the spread of viral infections. In addition, exposure to cold weakens human immunity. ⋯ Our results indicate an increased number of COVID-19 cases during the 39-week study period when the mean, max, and min temperatures were consistently low and the mean relative humidity was consistently high.

Postoperative paralytic ileus refers to the disruption of the normal coordinated propulsive motor activity of the gastrointestinal system following surgery. Surgery causes inflammation in the muscle walls of organs with an intestinal lumen that, in turn, leads to a decrease in intestinal motility. ⋯ Gastrografin and combined use of gastrografin and neostigmine are effective and viable methods for postoperative ileus cases. Gastrografin can safely be used in patients with anastomoses.
