This study compared functional outcomes and preoperative between cemented and uncemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty in patients older than 65 years with subcapital displaced femoral neck fracture. ⋯ Although higher rates of intraoperative bleeding and surgery time were seen with cemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty in older patients with femoral neck fracture compared to uncemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty, cemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty can cause less complications and improve patients' function in less time.

To determine the current frequency and pattern of distribution of congenital heart defects (CHD) at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), with the age at which initial diagnosis of CHD was made and the age at which the participant first visited the study center. ⋯ Congenital Heart Defects are very common in our setup and early detection of CHD is increasing. Overall burden of CHD is also increasing therefore a proper population based study on a large scale is needed to estimate the prevalence accurately.

Management of post operative pain in children undergoing hypospadiasis repair, accounts for optimized surgery outcomes and improved patients' satisfaction. Thus, various studies have widely investigated the best approaches for the pain management. In this study our aim was to determine the effect of dexamethasone in combination with penile nerve block on the postoperative pain and complications in the children undergoing hypospadias surgery. ⋯ Single dose of intravenous dexamethasone (0.5 mg/kg) in combination with penile block decreased the post operative pain measures, and total post operative analgesic requirement. It also increased the onset of the first analgesic requirement compared to penile block alone.

To evaluate health care professionals' knowledge on warfarin interactions with drugs and herbs. ⋯ This study suggests that health care professionals' knowledge of warfarin- drug-herb interactions was inadequate. Therefore, health care professionals should receive more education programs about drug-drug/herb interactions to provide appropriate patient counseling and optimal therapeutic outcomes.

To study the effect of timing of thrombolytic therapy, cardiac risk factors and site of infarction on S.T. resolution post thrombolysis in STEMI patients. ⋯ Patients with diabetes, hypertension and those who receive thrombolysis after 12 hours of onset of chest pain respond poorly to thrombolytic therapy as per ECG findings whereas hyperlipidemia and site of infarction don't affect the response of STEMI patients to thrombolysis.
