To analyze the related factors for delayed healing of facial muscle spasm after microvascular decompression. ⋯ Delayed healing is a common phenomenon after microvascular decompression for facial muscle spasm, with an elusive reason. Therefore, the treatment outcomes should be evaluated after one year of follow-up.

To determine the role of icaAD and agr genes in biofilm formation and evaluate the consistency of two phenotypic methods for biofilm measurement. ⋯ In conclusion, biofilm production was observed for both agr positive and agr negative isolates. Furthermore, the presence of icaAD genes was not associated with all biofilm producing strains as some strains negative for icaAD genes displayed biofilm production.

Trauma scores are prone to misreading. Therefore, a readily available, objective way to estimate the mortality of the trauma patients is needed. We aimed to evaluate the prognostic utility of lactate levels, and clearance for 30-days mortality, and compare with the physiological trauma scores. ⋯ Calculation of 2h-lactate clearance and evaluation of a 2h-lactate level may not be needed to predict long-term mortality if the initial lactate level is below 2.8mmol/L.

To study Agreement between Keratometric readings by VERION image guided System, Galilei G4 and Pentacam. ⋯ Verion image guided system is comparable to other instruments used currently for keratometry. Verion can be interchangeably used with Pentacam and Galilee G4 in assessing corneal astigmatism.

To compare the effects of high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) and a combination of transcutaneous nerve stimulation (TENS) with ultrasound (US) therapy on pain and functionality in patients with chronic lumbar radiculopathy. ⋯ HILT and TENS+US combined with exercise were effective treatment modalities in decreasing the VAS and ODI scores. TENS+US combined with exercises were more effective than HILT combined with exercise.
