To determine frequency of hepatitis-C in dialysis patients at start of hemodialysis, seroconversion from HCV negative to HCV positive over study duration and factors affecting seroconversion. ⋯ Frequency of HCV seroconversion among chronic hemodialysis patient is found to be 53.37%. Arteriovenous access, number of dialysis, reuse of dialyzer and blood transfusions are important risk factors.

To assess the short- and long-term effects of the adjustable fortification (ADJ) regimen on growth parameters in premature infants and to evaluate the amount of protein supplements given to reach the targeted blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels. ⋯ A higher protein intake through the ADJ regimen improves the physical growth rate of premature infants in the NICU and after discharge. However, sometimes, the targeted growth and BUN values cannot be achieved despite the administration of protein at the recommended increased doses. Increasing protein supplementation up to 1.6 g/day is safe, feasible, and beneficial for these infants.

The most important desideratum of a provisional crown is an adequate marginal fit that is essential for maintaining optimal periodontal health, reducing the sensitivity of freshly prepared dentin and protection of the pulp. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the vertical marginal accuracy of provisional crown materials using three different material systems (chemically activated PMMA powder-liquid system, light activated UDMA single paste system, and chemically activated Bis-GMA two paste auto mix system) and two different techniques (direct and indirect). ⋯ This study has shown that provisional crowns fabricated with Bis-GMA composite resin material (two paste auto mix system) registered the best marginal accuracy. Provisional crowns fabricated with indirect technique recorded less marginal opening than with direct technique.

To determine the correlation between body mass index (BMI) and lipid profile in patients with Type 2 Diabetes (T2DM) attending a tertiary care hospital in Peshawar. ⋯ A significant negative correlation between BMI and HDL-C was observed, while the correlation between BMI and LDL-C was observed to be insignificant. HDL-C was found significantly higher in patients with normal BMI. These results are important to indicate that there is modest impact of BMI on lipid profile. Therefore, assessment and management for altered blood lipids should not be based on a patient's body weight or BMI.

To determine level and factors of job satisfaction among doctors working in tertiary care hospitals in Pakistan. ⋯ Job dissatisfaction was seen among doctors from all the tiers and departments. Public sector doctors were more dissatisfied than private sector doctors. Increasing age, duration of current posting and working experience, positively correlated with satisfaction level.
