The present most modern and highly advanced 21'st century is the era of science and technology. In human history, universities are the basic birthplace of higher education, research, and innovation and play a significant role in the countries' performance, prosperity, and economic progress. Worldwide, there is a swift shift in the pattern of biological, environmental, economic, and educational systems. ⋯ Many universities worldwide, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, promote D. Sc degree programs in various science disciplines, including medical sciences. This manuscript explores the dynamics of a higher doctorate and its significance, need, and demand in academia to compete globally.

Khuzdar, the largest city of Southern Balochistan, is endemic for malaria with API of 6. The study was aimed at comparing the clinico-lab profile of severe and uncomplicated malaria in the region and to determine any association with age. No such study is reported in the region so far. ⋯ Certain clinical and lab parameters can be used to predict prognosis and thus avoid adverse outcome in malaria patients.

To explore student's perceptions regarding impact of kinesics (facial expressions, gestures, head movements and postures) on undergraduate medical education. ⋯ Nonverbal communication can have positive or negative impact on undergraduate medical education. Therefore, teachers may start lecture with a smile and anger should be avoided to produce friendly and healthy learning environment. Faculty training is required for the effective use of nonverbal communication strategies to create an optimal learning environment for the students.

To investigate the etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of neonatal cerebral infarction (NCI) to further improve the understanding of the disease. ⋯ Complications leading to placental circulation disorder during pregnancy and perinatal hypoxia are common high-risk factors of NCI. The seizure is the most common clinical manifestation. There is a possible correlation between PFO and NCI. Involvement of deep gray matter or multiple lobes and intrapartum complications may indicate poor prognosis, while vaginal delivery and prolonged hospitalizations are associated with better prognosis of NCI.

To evaluate the outcomes of clinical pharmacist-led medication therapy management (MTM) services for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ⋯ MTM designed for COPD patients can improve pharmacist-led service quality and clinical outcomes of COPD.
