Emergency medicine has transitioned from developing to a developed specialty in Pakistan. It is gaining recognition in the national and international arena. Residency in emergency medicine is a tough pathway in which a resident learns and is assessed at multiple levels. ⋯ The selection process was traditionally based on seniority and academic achievements with no consideration for soft skills. In the current write-up, we are proposing an evidence-base sequential chief resident selection process called Chief Resident Election of Emergency Department (CREED). The program was developed keeping in consideration the traditional method of election and interviews with the incorporation of reflexive, leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

To investigate the prevalence of additional canals and the occurrence of oval canals in apical third area of mandibular permanent incisors of Saudi sub-population. ⋯ In this study, multiple canals were prominently recognized with Type-III mandibular incisors dominating this feature. Oval canals were predominantly found in single canal especially Type-III. This research suggests variability in canal morphology among different populations. Knowledge of these aberrant canal anatomies is useful for the clinician to achieve a favorable endodontic outcome.

To investigate the effect of valsartan combined with nifedipine controlled-release Tablets on diabetic nephropathy (DN) patients with hypertension. ⋯ A combination of valsartan and nifedipine controlled-release tablets in DN patients with hypertension can effectively control blood glucose and blood pressure, improve the serological indexes such as COMP, TM, mAlb, Ang-1, Hcy, CysC, TGF-β1, APN, ALD and ghrelin, and potentially reduce and delay renal function damage.

To compare the efficiency of U100 laser and pneumatic ballistics combined with percutaneous transhepatic cholangioscopic lithotripsy (PTCSL) in the treatment of intra-and extrahepatic bile duct stones and their effects on liver function. ⋯ Compared with pneumatic ballistics, U100 laser lithotripsy combined with PTCSL in the treatment of intra and extrahepatic bile duct stones has the advantages of less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stay, less biliary bleeding and stone residue, and less damage to liver function.
