Erythromycin is used for prevention and control of infectious perinatal morbidity. It has been hypothesised that erythromycin crosses the placenta and has an effect on the production of placental inflammatory factors. We evaluated the transport of erythromycin in an ex-vivo closed perfusion system of the placenta and determined its effect on the production of placenta inflammatory markers. ⋯ Erythromycin crossed the placenta and did not inhibit the production of IL-6. Future studies are needed concerning neonatal adverse effects and the development of antibiotic resistance.

Glomus jugulare tumor are benign vascular tumors and surgical resection is almost impossible. We have treated these tumors by Gamma knife radiosurgery and share our experience. ⋯ Gamma Knife radiosurgery is a safe and effective primary therapy and salvage therapy for residual and recurrent cases of glomus jugulare and tympanicum tumors.

To compare the functional and radiological outcome of different approaches of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF), and to analyze the factors affecting postoperative re-fracture in patients with OVCF. ⋯ Unilateral PVP treatment of OVCF has the advantages of less intraoperative bleeding, less X-ray irradiation and shorter operation time. At the same time, bilateral PVP is associated with improved bone cement dispersion, and the effect of improving patients' pain is better than that in the Unilateral PVP. Postoperative risk of re-fracture in OVCF patients correlated with age, bone mineral density, amount of bone cement injection and pedicle diameter.

To analyze the effect of the combined low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) and amikacin treatment on the bacterial clearance and changes in coagulation function in patients with severe pneumonia (SP). ⋯ Combining LMWH with amikacin in the treatment of elderly SP patients can improve the coagulation function and bacterial clearance, can promote the recovery of patients and has a good clinical application value.

To analyze the effects of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) on acute physiology and chronic health scoring system II (APACHE-II) score, creatinine, and urea nitrogen levels in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). ⋯ CRRT can achieve significant results in the treatment of patients with AKI, help to improve the curative effect, survival rate, alleviate the severity of the disease, recovery of renal functions, the recovery of serum electrolytels and fluid balance.
