Data on the relationship between depression and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is scarce and conflicting. We, hereby, aimed to review evidence if prior depression increases the risk of GDM. ⋯ Our study indicates that prior depression can lead to a 29% increased risk of GDM in pregnant females. Current evidence is derived from a limited number of studies with significant heterogeneity in the timing and diagnostic criteria for depression.

The ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) infection causes severe respiratory dysfunction and has become an emergent issue for worldwide healthcare due to highly transmissible and contagious nature. Aerosol generating procedures such as tracheal intubation is of particularly high risk. ⋯ This includes a change in working dynamics with 24/7 consultant coverage for emergent or urgent tracheal intubation of COVID patients at non-operating room locations. Other steps include prepackaging intubation baskets, availability of videolaryngoscope, standard personal protective equipment including powered air purifying respirator, and use of modified intubation checklist.

To compare the clinical efficacy of different ratios of cefoperazone/sulbactam in the treatment of patients with pyelonephritis. ⋯ The clinical efficacy of 1:1 ratio of cefoperazone/sulbactam in the treatment of patients with pyelonephritis was superior that of 2:1 ratio. This ratio allows to fully utilize the antibacterial effect of cefoperazone, with a significant decrease in inflammation markers and an improvement in bacterial clearance.

To investigate whether pulse index continuous cardiac output (PiCCO) and critical care ultrasound are highly consistent in volume status assessment during fluid resuscitation for septic shock patients and analyze their influence on the prognosis of septic shock. ⋯ Both PiCCO and critical care ultrasound can help achieve favorable outcomes from resuscitation for septic shock patients. Compared with PiCCO, critical care ultrasound monitoring appears to be more effective in preventing CRI and reducing MVD and ICU LoS, thereby easing patients' medical burden.
