To find out the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). ⋯ Prevalence of diabetes was 64% among the CABG population. Since the prevalence of diabetes can significantly affect the outcomes of people undergoing CABG, it is essential to generate awareness regarding diabetes among healthcare workers as well as the general population. More extensive research is needed to be carried by various health care centers to figure out the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in cardiac surgery patients.

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of integrating simulation for teaching pediatric clinical examination skills to undergraduate, MBBS Year-IV medical students at The Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan. ⋯ The result of the study suggested simulation as a useful instructional strategy for teaching examination skills to students in their early years. The student gained confidence through deliberate practice and feedback without compromising patient safety, which translated into improved performance in the high-stakes OSCE examination at the end of the clerkship.

To investigate the efficacy of metoprolol combined with torasemide in elderly patients with degenerative valvular heart disease (DVHD) and heart failure and its influence on N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) concentrations. ⋯ Metoprolol combined with torasemide has a significant therapeutic effect on DVHD patients with heart failure. This drug combination improved cardiac function, reduced NT-proBNP concentrations and has good safety.

To explore the effect of clinical pharmacists participating in nutritional therapy for patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI) complicated with dysphagia. ⋯ Pharmaceutical intervention in nutritional therapy for patients with ACI complicated with dysphagia has positive significance in further improving the nutritional status and nutritional indexes, enhancing the efficacy of drug treatment and reducing the risk of adverse events, and is worthy of promotion.

To investigate Gegen Qinlian Decoction (GQD) combined with metformin for treatment of patients with Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ GQD combined with metformin can significantly reduce FBG, 2h glucose and HbA1c levels, and improve TCM syndrome, with good clinical efficacy, shorter blood glucose time in range and less adverse reactions.
