Post-Cardiac arrest targeted temperature management in a parturient with severe COVID-19 disease.
Targeted temperature management (TTM) may improve neurological outcomes and mortality after cardiac arrest. We present a targeted mild hypothermia treatment in a postpartum patient with COVID-19 after successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). ⋯ A 23 year old, 26-week pregnant patient with the diagnosis of COVID-19. The patient developed respiratory arrest followed by cardiac arrest and underwent CPR for six minutes. The patient underwent an emergency cesarean section after CPR in intensive care unit. After the resuscitation, 72-hours hypothermia protocol was initiated. We extubated the patient 13 days after the hypothermia procedure. The patient was conscious and cooperative. Respiratory distress worsened in the following days; the patient was re-intubated 18 days after the TTM. The benefit of targeted hypothermia was improved neurologic outcome in our patient. However, severe infectious complications led to multi-organ failure and the patient died on the 45th ICU admission day.

Lipoid Proteinosis: Identification of a Novel Nonsense Mutation c.1246C>T:p.R416X in ECM1 gene from Bangladesh.
Lipoid proteinosis is a rare multisystem genodermatosis inherited as autosomal recessive trait. We report a case of lipoid proteinosis in a 10-year-old boy born to first-degree consanguineous parents presented with marked hoarseness of voice, accelerated photoaging appearance, enlarged and erythematous tongue with restricted movement and widespread dermatoses. ⋯ Both the parents were unaffected heterozygous carriers. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of lipoid proteinosis with evidence of a novel nonsense genetic mutation from Bangladesh.

To explore the accuracy, safety and clinical effect of descending thoracic pedicle screw fixation assisted by computer CT three-dimensional navigation in the treatment of single segmental compression thoracic fracture. ⋯ Intraoperative CT navigation for pedicle screw placement can reduce the time of screw placement and intraoperative blood loss, improve the excellent rate of screw placement and the compression ratio of the anterior edge of the injured vertebra, the complication rate was low.
