To investigate the value of serum procalcitonin(PCT), C-reactive protein(CRP), and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin(NGAL) in the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury(AKI) after upper urinary tract calculi(UUTC). ⋯ PCT, CRP, and NGAL concentrations in patients with AKI after UUTC were significantly increased two hours after the operation, which can be used for the early diagnosis of AKI after UUTC operation.

To investigate the effect of storage duration of suspended red blood cells (SRBC) before intraoperative infusion on coagulation indexes, routine blood examination and immune function in patients with gastrointestinal (GI) tumors. ⋯ Intraoperative infusion of SRBC with storage duration longer than two weeks increases the risk of perioperative adverse transfusion reactions, which implies that the storage duration of SRBC should be strictly controlled in clinical practice to reduce the risk of blood transfusion.

To assess the prescribing practice of obstetricians and gynecologists (OBGYN) regarding Menopausal Hormone therapy (MHT) for menopausal females and assess the knowledge regarding indications for prescribing MHT and identify the barriers to HRT. ⋯ Pakistani gynecologists are more cautious in their management strategies concerning MHT. Most of the gynecologists showed good and up to date information while prescribing MHT however knowledge for preventing fractures, alleviating anxiety/depression and weight gain was less among the gynecologist of Pakistan. We recommend refresher courses and online webinars for updated information on menopause and its management.

To determine the risk factors for Hyponatremia in Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. ⋯ Hyponatremia was common in COVID-19 hospitalized patients. Increasing age, DM, Hypoxemia, Hypoalbuminemia, high serum Ferritin and AKI were the most significant risk factors for Hyponatremia. Hyponatremic patients had comparatively higher mortality than Eunatremic patients.

To explore the problems faced by recent medical graduates in communication with their patients due to language barriers and the influence of these language barriers on the doctor-patient relationship. ⋯ This study establishes the detrimental effects of language barriers on the relationship between physician and patient which can help medical educationists and policymakers in devising a curriculum in such a way that it can minimize the impact of language barriers on the doctor-patient relationship.
