To measure choroidal thickness (CT) in highly myopia eyes using enhanced depth imaging spectral-domain optical tomography (EDI SD-OCT) and explore the relationship between the CT and axial length (AL) and corneal curvature. ⋯ EDI SD-OCT can quantitatively measure the CT of high myopia. The CT of patients with high myopia was significantly thinner than that of the control group of the same age. There was a significant correlation between diopter, AL and CT, suggesting that AL is a parameter indicating the degree of myopia, and the change of CT may play a role in the occurrence and development of high myopia.

To explore the factors that disturb students' interaction during lectures and interfere with their active participation. ⋯ Several factors (PF, CMF, TRF, and CEF) disturbed students' interaction during a lecture. Additionally, the male gender, married students, and sixth-year students were the associated factors of disturbed interaction during a lecture. We suggest that teachers and educational leaders need to devise a policy to overcome these factors to provide a conducive learning environment.

To compare the therapeutic effect of endoscopic-assisted lateral neck dissection and open lateral neck dissection in the treatment of lateral neck lymph node metastasis of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). ⋯ Endoscopic-assisted lateral neck dissection can reduce intraoperative blood loss and postoperative complication incidence in the treatment of lateral neck lymph node metastasis of PTC. However, it has the disadvantages of longer operation time and high hospitalization costs.

Incense burning is a well-known practice in Asian and Middle Eastern cultures for ceremonial and religious purposes. The excessive use of incense burning has become a critical environmental health concern. The incense sellers are more exposed to incense allied air pollution. This study examines the association between prediabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in incense sellers. ⋯ The prevalence of pre-diabetic and type-2 diabetes was increased in incense sellers. The prevalence of pre-diabetic and type-2 diabetes was further increased with the increasing working duration of incense sellers. The study findings call for safe practice and avoiding indoor burning incense. It is suggested that well-ventilated areas with proper masks for the workers may reduce the incense-related pollution effects.

The Cleft palate is one of the most commonly encountered congenital deformity in plastic surgery clinics and can be associated with cleft lip and alveolus. Though palate repair can be associated with several complications, the most frequent and troublesome is anterior fistula formation. Various technical modifications are in practice to avoid this dreaded complication. We have started combining gingivoperiosteoplasty with palate repair to avoid postoperative anterior fistula formation and to close alveolar cleft at the same time. ⋯ Gingivoperiosteoplasty combined with the palatal repair is a novel technique for the prevention of anterior palatal fistula.
