To determine the frequency of various hematological manifestations among newly diagnosed cases of pulmonary tuberculosis on complete blood counts. ⋯ Hematological parameters like high Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) and anemia were commonly detected in newly diagnosed patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Thrombocytosis was seen more commonly in male patients of pulmonary tuberculosis.

This study aimed to assess the frequency of first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART) resistance among HIV patients and to identify the factors affecting the drug resistance. ⋯ There is a high frequency of resistance to first-line antiretroviral therapy among HIV patients presenting to the selected healthcare facility in Peshawar. Furthermore, we found no significant factors impacting ART resistance among HIV patients other than BMI.

To investigate the clinical effect of posterior nasal nerve combined with anterior ethmoid neurotomy in the treatment of moderate to severe persistent allergic rhinitis. ⋯ Posterior nasal nerve combined with anterior ethmoid neurotomy is a safe and reliable surgical method for the treatment of moderate to severe persistent allergic rhinitis, boasting a variety of benefits such as symptomatic relief, improved quality of life, and reduced adverse reactions, which is worthy of clinical promotion.

Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV) are common cause of congenital obstructive uropathy in boys and may be associated with urinary tract infection(UTI) and chronic kidney disease(CKD) if not managed timely. The objective of our study was to determine the clinical profile of children with PUV. ⋯ Our study showed a high frequency of UTI and AKI. E. coli was most common pathogen. Despite valve fulgration, significant patients had CKD.

To observe the changes of blood gas and serum indexes in patients with acute heart failure complicated with respiratory failure treated by noninvasive ventilator-assisted ventilation. ⋯ In patients with acute heart failure and respiratory failure, noninvasive ventilator-assisted ventilation results in improved blood gas analysis indexes and lower levels of heart disease markers, NT-pro BNP and cTnI.
