To compare the effectiveness and complications of Burch colposuspension and Mid Urethral Slings (MUS) for the treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). ⋯ All the three procedures have equal efficacy and complication rates. Even though TVT is the new gold standard but in view of current debate regarding mesh related complications, there is a need to readdress Burch colposuspension for treatment of SUI.

Congenital transmesenteric hernias are uncommon and are a rare cause of bowel obstruction, which is even rarer in pregnant woman. Because of the lack of specific symptoms or reliable sensitive markers, it is difficult to diagnose internal hernia at early stage, therefore resulting in the delay of surgical intervention and a high mortality rate, especially in pregnant woman. We report a case in which a woman presenting at 16 weeks` gestation was admitted with symptoms of nausea, vomiting and left upper abdominal pain similar to her first-trimester morning sickness. ⋯ Low dose CT plain scan showed features of small bowel obstruction by an internal hernia. Emergency exploratory laparotomy revealed a mesenteric defect of the left colon with a 30 cm long jejunal herniating distal to 10 cm of the ligament of Treitz. The involved small bowel was strangulated and gangrened, necrotic segmental resection and end to end anastomosis were performed subsequently, and the mesenteric defect was then successfully repaired with sutures.

To compare the outcome of non-operative treatment (NOT) with antibiotics versus surgical management of uncomplicated appendicitis in children. ⋯ In this study, success of NOT was 84% so a trial of NOT in cases of uncomplicated appendicitis should be considered in children.

To determine the clinical and radiological outcome of proximal femur shaft fractures in school going children treated with locking compression plates (LCP). ⋯ The results of our study indicated that proximal femoral shaft fractures in school going children treated with locking compression plates had excellent clinical and radiological outcome. We therefore recommend locking compression plate as the implant of choice to fix proximal femoral shaft fractures in school going children.

This study aimed at the in vitro generation of DMD-cardiomyocytes from patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells derived from a Pakistani patient for future work on DMD in vitro disease modeling and drug testing for efficacy and toxicity. ⋯ This study aimed for in vitro generation of DMD cardiomyocytes for future application in disease modeling, new drug testing for efficacy and toxicity, as well as for drug-testing for tailored personalized therapy. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first time DMD-Cardiomyocytes were generated from Pakistani DMD patients using their own induced pluripotent stem cells.
