Heart diseases in paediatric population are considered to be significant contributors to mortality and morbidity. Congenital heart disease (CHD) as well as acquired heart disease (AHD) are frequent causes of hospital admission among children. This study was aimed at finding out frequency and pattern of heart diseases in admitted patients at The Children's Hospital, Multan. ⋯ Burden of heart diseases is rising in our region. VSD, ASD and TOF were the most common types of CHDs while RHD and acute myocarditis were the most frequent types of AHDs.

To discuss the correlation between hormone levels and cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN) in menopausal patients with Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ The CAN morbidity of menopausal female patients with T2DM is high, and HbA1c and E2 should be mainly monitored to identify and treat CAN early.

To study whether the levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25-(OH)D3) and Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) are correlated to the eradication and recurrence of helicobacter pylori (Hp) in paediatric patients with Hp infection-related gastritis. ⋯ Relatively high levels of IL-1β may be correlated to the difficulty in eradicating the Hp infection in paediatric patients. Relatively low levels of 25-(OH) D3 may be correlated to the difficulty in eradicating the Hp infection and recurrence in paediatric patients.

To study the causative variants in affected member of a Saudi family with Tay-Sachs disorder. This disorder includes paralysis, decreasing in attentiveness, seizures, blindness, motor deterioration progresses rapidly leading to a completely unresponsive state and a cherry-red spot visible on the eye. ⋯ We detected homozygous mutation in HEXA gene that may lead to cause Tay-Sachs disorder. Moreover, explain the possibility that HEXA gene may play important role for multiple aspects of normal human neurodevelopment.

To investigate the relationship between myocardial enzymes, liver function and metabolic acidosis in children with rotavirus infection diarrhea. ⋯ With the aggravation of metabolic acidosis, infectious diarrhea caused by rotavirus is characterized by the aggravation of hepatic function and myocardial cells.
