To document the presentation of tibial infected non-union and analyze the management outcome with Ilizarov technique in terms of bone results, functional outcome, bone transport time, external fixation time, external fixation index and any complications. ⋯ Ilizarov method beautifully addresses the formidable issue of infected non union of tibia with good outcome in terms of bone healing and infection eradication. The treatment period is relatively lengthy and hence patience on part of patient as well as the surgical team is imperative for achieving favourable outcomes.

Molecular genetic abnormalities have a significant role not only in diagnosis but also in determining the clinical course and prognosis. Nucleophosmin-1 (NPM-1) is associated with good prognosis while internal tandem duplication of the fms-like tyrosine kinase-3 gene (FLT3-ITD) confers a poor prognosis. Knowledge of the status of these mutations in AML patients not only guides treatment decisions but also helps in predicting response to frontline induction and consolidation chemotherapy as well as the risk of relapse and overall survival. Our objectives were to determine the prevalence, clinico-haematological features and immunophenotypic characteristics of AML patients with FLT3-ITD and NPM1 mutation and to evaluate the response to induction therapy (CR) and disease free survival (DFS) in this cohort of patients. ⋯ AML patients harbouring NPM1 and FLT3-ITD mutations have distinct clinical and haematological characteristics. NPM1 mutations have a better CR and DFS as compared to FLT3-ITD group.

To investigate the factors which might influence the sonographic fetal weight estimation (SFWE) accuracy. ⋯ SFWE has a high correlation with NBW, however it's accuracy is still unsatisfactory, and depend on many unpredictable and inconsistent factors.

The study was planned to determine whether serum calcium, phosphate and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) are predictors of bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal non-osteoporotic, osteopenic, and osteoporotic females. ⋯ Our study suggested that calcium and phosphate are the strongest predictors of T-score in postmenopausal normal females, while in postmenopausal osteopenic females ALP was the strongest predictor of T-score. Elevated serum ALP levels may help in determining loss of BMD in postmenopausal females.

To compare hemodialysis (HD) internal jugular vein (IJV) versus subclavian vein (SCV) catheters in terms of procedural complications, patients' comfort, tolerance and cost effectiveness. ⋯ SCV is a better site for HD catheterization as it has comparatively lesser likelihood of complications, patients' feel comfortable and it is also cost-effective.than IJV.
