To investigate the prevalence and impacts of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) on anemia, fatigue, and the quality of life (QoL) in women of reproductive age. ⋯ It was determined that HMB is common and has negative effects on anemia, fatigue and some subdimensions of the QoL. Regular screening for HMB that may not be expressed by many women may therefore be useful in preventing and resolving the health problems that it will cause.

To compare the serum levels of vitamin D, vitamin D binding protein (VDBP) calcium and phosphate in normal, osteopenic and osteoporotic postmenopausal women categorized on the basis of bone mineral density (BMD) scores. ⋯ Vitamin D and VDBP are linked with bone health and estimation of VDBP appears to be a valuable tool for the assessment of increased bone loss and possible risks of bone fractures especially in postmenopausal women.

To find out the prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Hepatitis (B & C) among the drug users in a tertiary care public hospital. ⋯ HIV and hepatitis B & C were prevalent among drug users specially those who took drugs through injections. Relapse rate was significantly high and history of drug use in family may also predispose an individual towards becoming a drug addict.

To evaluate the effectiveness of corticosteroid ointment in hypertrophic scars prevention following Cesarean section. ⋯ The clinical outcomes in both groups were similar. Although vascularity and height parameters improved in three months, similar results were also observed in the group that did not receive treatment after the end of six months. This may have been due to the fact that treatment was stopped after three months. We recommend that the hypothesis be tested in larger series in future studies.

To correlate acne severity with elevated androgen levels and to compare androgen levels between cases and controls. ⋯ Androgens are not directly correlated with acne severity, but affect acne severity as seen in difference between their levels in different grades of acne. Anti-androgens may be initiated early in acne resistant to conventional therapy.
