This study aims to evaluate medication adherence in hypertensive patients and to identify the influential factors. ⋯ Our study results suggest that medication adherence is good in patients with hypertension (HT). Factors which are effective in medication adherence should be taken into consideration, when evaluating the medication adherence in patients with HT.

To compare the plasma level of surfactant protein-A in apparently healthy smokers, stable and exacerbation Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. ⋯ Current smokers and exacerbated patients had higher values of SP-A protein than stable COPD patients since they had stopped smoking.

Authors under pressure to publish to meet some academic requirement are one of the most dangerous pressure group which the editors of good quality peer review biomedical journals have to face every day. Their failure to read and follow instructions for authors which are published on every journal website, lack of training facilities in research methodology, medical writing, and low computer literacy rate leads to increased trauma to their manuscripts. ⋯ It all takes time and there is no short cut. They must plan at least for six to eight months from the date of submission to acceptance and publication and avoid getting trapped by predatory journals which offer quick publication on payment.

To study the biomechanical properties of different suture methods, and to provide evidence for the clinical application of this suture methods in repairing acute Achilles tendon rupture. ⋯ Three suture methods can provide good biomechanical properties, but the anchor suture is more effective in solving the shortcomings of traditional methods. It is a safe and effective method, and is worthy of promotion.
