With the aggravation of global aging, benign prostate hyperplasia tends to have a higher incidence and has been the most common disease in urinary surgery. It is usually treated by surgery. Our objective was to select an effective treatment scheme, the clinical efficacy and relevant indicators of transurethral balloon dilatation of the prostate (TUDP) and transurethral plasmakinetic resection of the prostate (PKRP) in the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia were emphatically compared. ⋯ PKRP has better efficacy than TUDP in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, but QOL was poor and there are many complications. Proper surgical procedure should be selected according to the specific disease condition of patients.

Biotransformation of xenobiotics are critical for their metabolism and removal from the body which is carried out by xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes. Individuals carrying variants of genes that encode these enzymes have an altered ability to metabolize xenobiotics which may lead to an increased risk of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The current study aimed to investigate the impact of GSTM1 and GSTT1 gene deletions in causing predisposition to adult ALL. ⋯ The results reveal that homozygous null polymorphism of GSTM1 and GSTT1genes does not influence ALL susceptibility among adult patients. Cancer susceptibility associated with GST polymorphism varies with ethnic and geographic differences. Therefore, further investigation on different populations is needed to understand the role of these genetic variations in modifying adult ALL risk.

Cardiovascular deaths usually occur in older pregnancies and arrhythmia is the third most common cause. Our study aimed to determine whether the risk of arrhythmia increases in pregnancy with advanced age. ⋯ Repolarization parameters increase in advanced-age pregnancies even though they remain in the normal range, which should lead to an investigation of whether this is a pathological condition.

To establish a possible relation of dependency between pulmonary hypertension (PHT) and several factors, with the evaluation of their predictive potential, in Graves' disease. ⋯ The non-linear model best explains the relation of determination between pulmonary pressure and those factors having a better predictive potential (from 51% to 90%), compared with the linear model, the only exception being the age factor and the systolic blood pressure, where both models seems to be appropriate.

To evaluate the relationship between striae gravidarum (SG) score and abdominal scar characteristics together with intraperitoneal adhesion (IPA) grades of patients who were hospitalized for second cesarean delivery. ⋯ Striae gravidarum (SG) was found to be associated with scar characteristics, but not associated with the severity of intraperitoneal adhesion (IPA).
