Online support community for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer: user statistics, evaluation, and content analysis.
Peer support is an important unmet need among adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer patients. This study was conducted to describe the use and evaluation of a Dutch secure online support community for AYA diagnosed with cancer between 18 and 35 years. ⋯ The secure Dutch online AYA community can help AYA cancer patients to express feelings, exchange information, address peer support, and has been found helpful in coping with cancer. As AYA cancer patients often lack the option of meeting each other in person, the AYA community is helpful in establishing peer support. Its use would benefit from promotion by health care professionals.

Real-life experience of quality of life, treatment satisfaction, and adherence in patients receiving oral anticoagulants for atrial fibrillation.
Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) have shown noninferiority to vitamin K antagonists (VKA) in stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation. DOAC treatment may be less demanding than VKA, improving quality of life. To date, there have been no studies of the real-life experience of outpatients receiving anticoagulation therapy for atrial fibrillation in France. ⋯ The experience of patients under oral anticoagulation therapy for atrial fibrillation managed on an outpatient basis was good, with comparable quality of life under DOACs and VKA, and significantly greater satisfaction under DOACs, without impact on adherence. Taking account of patient preference in "shared decision-making" for the choice of type of anticoagulant could improve the patients' experience of treatment.

To evaluate the prognostic value of the Prehospital Index (PHI) for hospitalized patients with acute trauma. ⋯ The PHI is valuable in prognostic prediction of hospitalized patients with acute trauma, and it is superior to the ISS. The PHI has such advantages as being simple in operation, easy to learn, capable of reflecting conditions timely and reliably, and suitable for dynamic evaluation and screening for critical patients with trauma.

Medication adherence in chronic illness: do beliefs about medications play a role?
Several medicines are prescribed for chronic disease management; however, adherence to long-term therapy remains poor. Culture influences beliefs about medications and, ultimately, adherence to treatment. There is a paucity of data with regard to beliefs about medications in the Middle East region, and it remains to be determined how these beliefs would impact treatment adherence. ⋯ Medication adherence is a complex, multifaceted issue and patient beliefs about medications contribute significantly, although partially, to adherence among a multicultural Middle Eastern patient population.

Treatment of relapsed refractory multiple myeloma: which new PI-based combination treatments do patients prefer?
This study describes preferences of German relapsed refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) patients with novel proteasome inhibitor-based combination treatments. ⋯ RRMM patients prefer treatments with an all-oral application, a longer disease-progression-free time, and a lower probability of AEs. If patients face tradeoffs, they accept a lower progression-free time and/or higher AE rates to get an all-oral therapy.
