Health-related quality of life in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with different risk for obstructive sleep apnea.
Our study primarily aimed to investigate health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with different risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). ⋯ Our study found that high proportion of patients with T2DM are at high risk for OSA. Furthermore, we showed that group of T2DM patients with high risk for OSA has lower HRQoL in all SF-36 dimensions compared to low-risk patients.

Association of diabetes-related self-care activities with glycemic control of patients with type 2 diabetes in Pakistan.
Association of various self-care activities on glycemic control of people with diabetes (PWD) in Pakistan is yet to be explored. The current study aimed to evaluate the association of various diabetes-related self-care activities with glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and to examine the predictive relationship of patients' demographic variables with their self-care activities. ⋯ The findings support that PWD having better self-reported self-care activities achieve better glycemic control. Patients' self-care activities should be monitored on a regular basis, especially for those who are at risk of poor glycemic control.

Assessment of patients' warfarin knowledge and anticoagulation control at a joint physician- and pharmacist-managed clinic in China.
Warfarin is a widely used anticoagulant with a narrow therapeutic index, and it requires close monitoring and adequate patient education. We aimed to assess the knowledge level regarding warfarin therapy among its users and to identify the factors that significantly influence anticoagulation control. ⋯ Areas for improvement in patient education have been identified, and processes for educational modification are currently in development.

Measuring the importance of health domains in psoriasis - discrete choice experiment versus rating scales.
Psoriasis affects different aspects of health-related quality of life (eg, physical, psychological, and social impairments); these health domains can be of different importance for patients. The importance of domains can be measured with the Patient Benefit Index (PBI). This questionnaire weights the achievement of treatment goals by Likert scales (0, "not important at all" to 4, "very important") using the Patient Needs Questionnaire (PNQ). Treatment goals assessed with the PBI have been assigned to five health domains; the importance of each domain can be calculated as the average importance of the respective treatment goals. In this study, the PBI approach of deriving importance weights is contrasted to a discrete choice experiment (DCE), in order to determine the importance of health domains in psoriasis, and to find if the resulting weights will differ when derived from these two methods. ⋯ Health domains have different importance to patients with psoriasis. Using PNQ or DCE to determine the importance of domains results in markedly different rankings; both approaches can thus not be considered equivalent. However, in this study, importance was assessed at the domain level in DCE and at the single item level in PNQ, which may have added to the differences.

Treatment adherence among adult hypertensive patients: a cross-sectional retrospective study in primary care in Romania.
This study was performed to elucidate the level of adherence to antihypertensive treatment in adult subjects attending a family medicine clinic in a city in central Romania. ⋯ This is the first published study assessing adherence to antihypertensive therapy in family medicine practice in Romania. It presented data derived from a primarily urban setting and targeted a geographical area where the prevalence of hypertension has increased continuously. Female gender, age, presence of cardiovascular risk factors, defined cardiovascular disease, chronic renal impairment, and good control of hypertension were positively associated with high adherence. The results provide insights to guide further strategies to improve adherence and indirect methods for blood pressure management strategies.
