Patient interpretation of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) Short Form.
The Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is a patient-reported instrument for assessment of nutrition status in patients with cancer. Despite thorough validation of PG-SGA, little has been reported about the way patients perceive, interpret, and respond to PG-SGA. The aim of this study was to investigate how patients interpret the patient-generated part of the PG-SGA, called PG-SGA Short Form. ⋯ The results of this study provide a unique patient perspective of using the PG-SGA Short Form and valuable input for future use and revisions of the form. The identified sources of misunderstanding could be used to develop a standardized instruction manual for patients and health care personnel using the PG-SGA Short Form.

Perceptions of engagement in health care among patients with tuberculosis: a qualitative study.
Adherence to treatment is cited as a key challenge in fighting tuberculosis (TB). Treatment of TB requires patients to actively engage in their care. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of patients with TB regarding their engagement in health care. ⋯ The patients' perceptions of their engagement in health care were generally negative. Paying attention to the preferences and needs of patients and making decisions accordingly are effective strategies for promoting patient engagement. Moreover, HCPs should be aware of their crucial role in helping patients make sense of what engagement is and how to engage. In the process of engagement, providers should establish effective interactions with patients and cooperate with family and peers.

The Role Of Effective Radiation Therapist-Patient Communication In Alleviating Treatment-Related Pain And Procedural Discomfort During Radiotherapy.
Managing radiotherapy (RT)-induced pain is essential for reducing the likelihood of treatment interruption and improving the chance of tumor control. The current study aimed to examine the role of radiation therapist (RTTs) interaction and effective information communication in modulating patients' experiences of pain and discomfort during RT. ⋯ Clinical implications can be drawn in terms of highlighting the need for RTTs to be mindful of their technical and supportive role in delivery of patient care and in structuring treatment information content in a way that contrasts potential nocebo effects related to patients' negative expectations about RT. The findings support the idea that RTTs may benefit from training interventions and structured education sessions with a focus on interpersonal skills and patient-centered communication.

What is the most important factor affecting patient satisfaction - a study based on gamma coefficient.
Objective: To analyze the influencing factors of patients satisfaction and find out the key factors, so as to provide suggestions for improving health policy. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted in Wuhan China. A total of 2,719 questionnaires were collected and 2,626 valid answer sheets were obtained. ⋯ Patients had a higher degree of satisfaction with the "Hospital convenience", "Hospital facilities and environment", "Medical staff services technology", "Medical staff service attitude", but had a lower degree of satisfaction with "Medical expense" and "Reimbursement ratio for medical expenses". Conclusion: "Medical staff's service attitude", "Medical staff services technology" and "Hospital convenience" was the most three important factors. The health managers should focus on the above three aspects and implement appropriate management decisions to improve patient satisfaction.

Associations of different adherences in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The objective of our cross-sectional study is to explore the adherence behavior of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by examining the association between the various types of adherence. The success of diabetic therapy partly relies on patient motivation, psych-odemographic variables (self-efficacy, health literacy, and health locus of control [HLOC]), and adherence. The aim of our research was to explore the attitudes of T2DM patients toward medication and lifestyle therapy, thus gaining a deeper insight into the role of adherence-determining parameters in disease management. ⋯ Adherence to medication, diet, glucose monitoring, and physical exercise showed different levels in T2DM patients and were in association with psychodemographic factors.
