Hair Zidovudine Concentrations Predict Virologic Outcomes Among People Living with HIV/AIDS in China.
Hair antiretroviral concentrations are an objective and non-invasive measure of adherence to long-term antiretroviral therapy (ART) and can further predict virologic outcomes among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH). Zidovudine, one of the mainstream antiretrovirals in China, has been verified to have high reliability in adherence assessment, especially for its hair concentrations. However, data are limited in its predicting virologic outcomes. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize whether hair zidovudine concentrations can predict virologic suppression among Chinese PLWH compared with hair lamivudine concentrations and two self-reported measures, the overall frequency of adherence behaviors and percentage adherence. ⋯ Hair zidovudine concentrations can be served as an alternative tool for clinically predicting virologic suppression among PLWH in China.

The Benefits of Safely Achieving Near Normoglycemia from the Perspective of People with Type 2 Diabetes: A Quantitative Survey Study.
To understand the perspectives of people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) on safely reaching near normoglycemia, defined as a glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) value of <6%. HbA1c indicates the average blood sugar level over the past few months. ⋯ Achieving near normoglycemia is both meaningful and important to the majority of people with T2D, including both those who have and those who have not experienced reaching near normoglycemia. A wide range of specific impacts, including psychological/emotional concepts, are experienced by people with T2D, many of which may be improved through achieving near normoglycemia.

"It Was Very Comforting to Find Out Right Away." - Patient Perspectives on Point-of-Care Molecular SARS-CoV-2 Testing in Primary Care.
The use of point-of-care tests (POCTs) has been a central strategy to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, evidence on the application and consequences of POCTs within medical settings is rare. ⋯ Patients highly appreciated molecular SARS-CoV-2 rapid testing conducted in primary care practices. The immediate availability of the test result led to adjustments in patients' behavior and emotional wellbeing. However, potentially challenging for the implementation of POCTs in primary care practices may be the reimbursement of test costs and patients' expectations in future situation.

The Ward Round: Patients' Perceptions of a Patient-Centered Approach and Their Suggestions for Improved Participation.
To explore, through a learning activity for healthcare students, how patients perceived the ward round and its patient-centered approach. ⋯ Less than half of the patients surveyed felt they could participate in the ward round, which indicates that there is an opportunity for improvement and development. Better information and communication about legal rights, as well as about the structure and content of the ward round, could be valuable to patients before admission. It is also important to find a way for patients' individual wishes to be more fully and easily conveyed to medical staff. Creating a more tailor-made ward round for each patient and fulfilling a patient-centered approach will likely entail a substantial organizational and mental shift.

Electronic Smart Blister Packages to Monitor and Support Medication Adherence: A Usability Study.
An electronic version of the Dosepak® (EDP) which records date and time of dosing events has been developed to monitor adherence to medication packaged in blisters. This study aimed to evaluate its usability and acceptance and to monitor dose-taking adherence for optimal implementation in future clinical trials and practice. ⋯ EDP had good perceived usability, was well accepted, and differed significantly from other adherence measurement methods. This study provides input to further guide scale-up of the blister packages.
