Risk Factors and the Usual Source of Care on Non-Adherence to Antihypertensive Drugs in Immigrants with Hypertension.
Immigrants are vulnerable to suboptimal health care utilization including non-adherence of medication use. Thus, we aimed to identify the potential risk factors of non-adherence and evaluate whether utilizing a usual source of care was associated with medication adherence in immigrants. ⋯ When the number of visited clinics increased, the degree of non-adherence increased consistently. Therefore, the systematization of registering with primary care (a usual source of care) might be a modifiable health care strategy to improve health care outcomes in immigrants.

The Translation, Reliability and Validity of the Chinese Version of the Hill-Bone Compliance to High Blood Pressure Therapy Scale in Adults with Hypertension.
To assess the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Hill-Bone compliance to high blood pressure therapy scale (HBTS) for use in adults with hypertension in China. ⋯ The Chinese Hill-Bone scale (HBTS-C) is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring adherence among Chinese with hypertension. Use of this screening tool for the assessment of adherence to hypertension treatment is recommended.

Characteristics, Preferences and Health Care Utilization in Patients Using a Dietary Supplement for Improving Sleeping Disturbances: Results from an Explorative Online Survey.
Sleeping disturbances are highly prevalent in the general population, and pharmacological drug treatment harbours the risk of serious side effects. Many affected persons use dietary supplements for self-treating their symptoms, but little is known about the specific characteristics and preferences of these patients. Even less evidence exists about the consequences of a specific dietary supplement usage on health care utilization. The aim of this study was to explore characteristics, preferences and the impact on health care utilization in patients using a specific over-the-counter dietary supplement, which is promoted for improving sleeping disturbances. ⋯ A significant proportion of participants reported a substantial reduction in pharmaceutical drug use and health care utilization. While these self-reports lack an adequate control, they are still real consumer experiences, and the large beneficial effects - whether placebo or not - explain the popularity of such supplements and their therapeutic potential in sleeping disorders.

Relationships Between Context, Process, and Outcome Indicators to Assess Quality of Physiotherapy Care in Patients with Whiplash-Associated Disorders: Applying Donabedian's Model of Care.
Quality indicators (QIs) are measurable elements of practice performance and may relate to context, process, outcome and structure. A valid set of QIs have been developed, reflecting the clinical reasoning used in primary care physiotherapy for patients with whiplash-associated disorders (WAD). Donabedian's model postulates relationships between the constructs of quality of care, acting in a virtuous circle. ⋯ The identified associations between selected context, process, and outcome variables were fair to moderate. Ongoing work may clarify some of these associations and provide guidance to physiotherapists on how best to improve the quality of clinical reasoning in terms of relationships between context, process, and outcome in the management of patients with WAD.

Patient's Perception on Leg Length Discrepancy After Total Hip Arthroplasty in Patients with Unilateral Crowe Type IV Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip.
The study assessed the correlation among the patients' perception of leg length discrepancy (LLD) after total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with unilateral Crowe type IV developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) and the four methods of measuring the leg length in the full-length standing anteroposterior radiographs. ⋯ Patients' perception on LLD had good correlation and reliability on the difference of FL+TL and the difference of TD-TP on both sides in the full-length standing anteroposterior radiographs after THA in patients with unilateral Crowe type IV DDH. The calculated threshold of the difference in FL+TL and the difference in TD-TP was set at 9.0 mm to assess the patients' perception on LLD.
