Adherence to Subcutaneous Anti-TNF Treatment in Chronic Inflammatory Rheumatism and Therapeutic Patient Education.
Poor patient adherence to anti-TNF treatment has proven to be a major roadblock to effective management. Therapeutic patient education (TPE) is now recognized as a crucial tool in managing conditions like chronic inflammatory rheumatism and in improving treatment adherence. This study aimed to assess whether different TPE programs might improve adherence to subcutaneous anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) treatment in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondyloarthritis (AS), and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). ⋯ This study demonstrated good adherence to anti-TNF treatment in patients that received TPE, particularly when it was delivered in individual sessions.

Quality of Pharmaceutical Services in Independent Pharmacies and Pharmacy Chains in Poland from the Patient Perspective.
Patient satisfaction is a key factor in the evaluation of the quality of healthcare services. Measuring patient satisfaction is common in outpatient, specialist, and hospital healthcare, and is also significant in relation to pharmaceutical services. The pharmacy market in Poland has been undergoing transformations for many years. Legal regulations implemented in 2002 resulted in a rapid growth of pharmacy chains and a decrease in the number of independent pharmacies. This situation may have translated into changes in the quality of pharmaceutical services. ⋯ Independent pharmacies and pharmacy chains ensure a similar level of services for patients in Poland. Pharmacy staff should place a special emphasis on providing patients with comprehensive information on medications. The development of pharmaceutical care in Poland will require appropriate legislative preparation.

Self-Medication Practices and Associated Factors Among Health-Care Professionals in Selected Hospitals of Western Ethiopia.
Even though the type, extent and reasons for self-medication practice (SMP) vary, globally self-medication (SM) is rising to relieve burdens on health services. However, inappropriate SMP results in economic wastes, damage of vital organs, incorrect therapy selection, risk of adverse drug reactions and development of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. These consequences have severe implications including legal, ethical and quality of health-care delivery. Temporal increment and high prevalence of SM among health professionals is also a major bottleneck for Ethiopia. Hence, the study aimed to assess the SM among health-care professionals (HCPs) in selected governmental hospitals of Western Ethiopia. ⋯ The study revealed a high prevalence of SMP among HCPs. Sex, age, and work experience were significantly associated with SMPs. Hence, the use of prescription drugs without prescription should be discouraged and appropriate health education should be provided by all concerned bodies on the proper use of drugs.

Psychosocial Predictors of Self-Efficacy Related to Self-Reported Adherence in Older Chronic Patients Dealing with Hypertension: A European Study.
Non-adherence to clinical prescriptions is widely recognized as the most common cause of uncontrolled hypertension, contributing to develop acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases. Specifically, patients' unintentional non-adherence is related to psychosocial factors as beliefs about medications, perceived physician's communication effectiveness and medication-specific social support. The aim of this study was to observe the impact of these factors on self-efficacy in relation to pharmacological and non-pharmacological self-reported adherence among older chronic patients with hypertension. ⋯ The observed psychosocial and behavioral factors revealed to positively impact on self-efficacy in relation to treatment adherence among older chronic patients dealing with hypertension. In a prevention framework, future studies and clinical practice may consider these factors in order to improve assessment and intervention on adherence in this population.

Perceived Self-Efficacy and Associated Factors Among Adult Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Public Hospitals of Western Ethiopia, 2020.
Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease and can be self-managed using five treatment approaches, including education, medical nutrition therapy, physical exercise, pharmacological intervention, and blood sugar monitoring. Improvement of patient compliance and self-efficacy are critical points that impact the self-care behavior in patients with type two diabetes mellitus in order to limit the morbidity and promote glycemic control. Therefore, the present study successfully assesses the effect of perceived self-efficacy and associated factors among patients with diabetes mellitus at public hospitals of western Ethiopia. ⋯ The level of perceived self-efficacy was high. Home blood glucose tests, good self-care behavior, married, doing exercise, good appetite, having a special diet were significantly associated with high perceived self-efficacy. The national policymaker focused on patients' behavioral change to develop perceived self-efficacy for confidently managing the disease.
