A Randomized Controlled Trial to Assess the Impact of Clinical Pharmacy Interventions on Treatment Outcomes, Health Related Quality of Life and Medication Adherence Among Hepatitis C Patients.
The role of specialized pharmacy services remains unexplored in clinical practice for hepatitis C patients in Pakistan. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of clinical pharmacy interventions on treatment outcomes, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and medication adherence among hepatitis C patients. ⋯ Pharmacist-led clinical pharmacy interventions as part of multidisciplinary care had a significant impact on improving cure rates, HRQoL, and medication adherence for hepatitis C patients. Interrelationship between depression, anxiety, pain, and treatment adherence in hemophilia: results from a US cross-sectional survey.
Depression, anxiety, pain, and treatment adherence have reciprocal effects not characterized extensively in hemophilia. This study explored the relationships between depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and treatment adherence in adults with hemophilia. ⋯ Depression and anxiety are underdiagnosed in hemophilia. Depression is associated with anxiety, pain, and lower treatment adherence. While treatment providers play an important role in diagnosis, social workers may play a pivotal role in depression and anxiety screening. This study highlights the importance of regular screening and treatment for these disorders.

The Role Of Effective Radiation Therapist-Patient Communication In Alleviating Treatment-Related Pain And Procedural Discomfort During Radiotherapy.
Managing radiotherapy (RT)-induced pain is essential for reducing the likelihood of treatment interruption and improving the chance of tumor control. The current study aimed to examine the role of radiation therapist (RTTs) interaction and effective information communication in modulating patients' experiences of pain and discomfort during RT. ⋯ Clinical implications can be drawn in terms of highlighting the need for RTTs to be mindful of their technical and supportive role in delivery of patient care and in structuring treatment information content in a way that contrasts potential nocebo effects related to patients' negative expectations about RT. The findings support the idea that RTTs may benefit from training interventions and structured education sessions with a focus on interpersonal skills and patient-centered communication.

Pattern and associated factors of adherence to immunosuppressive medications in kidney transplant recipients at a referral center in Iran.
Purpose: Ever increasing number of patients who receive kidney transplantation as a therapeutic option, approaches to increase graft survival as well as to identify factors that reduce the treatment outcomes should be taken into account. One of the heightened concerns after transplantation is non-adherence to immunosuppressive medications, which increases the risk of kidney failure or even rejection. The aim of this study was to evaluate factors associated with immunosuppressant medications adherence in kidney transplant recipients. ⋯ Furthermore, there was no statistically significant association between immunosuppressive medication adherence and acute kidney rejection. Conclusion: The rate of non-adherence to immunosuppressive medications was high. These data can be exploited by both physicians and policymakers to improve the rate of adherence to immunosuppressive medications amongst kidney transplant recipients.
