Comparison of anonymous versus nonanonymous responses to a medication adherence questionnaire in patients with Parkinson's disease.
Adherence to medication can be assessed by various self-report questionnaires. One could hypothesize that survey respondents tend to answer questions in a manner that will be viewed favorably by others. We aimed to answer if anonymous and nonanonymous responses to a questionnaire on medication adherence differ. ⋯ Overall assessment of adherence does not depend on whether the patient remains anonymous or not. There seems to be no relevant social desirability bias in nonanonymous responses.

Does "hospital loyalty" matter? Factors related to the intention of using a mobile app.
This study aimed to explore the association between hospital loyalty, perceived usefulness of a mobile app, perceived ease of use of that mobile app, and satisfaction with the app's use as well as predicting patients' intended use of the app. ⋯ Intended use of the app by women is mainly related to their experience of which is usefulness, ease of use and satisfaction of service are the most important factors contributing to continuous use. Hospital loyalty does not directly affect intention to use as expected. The influence of loyalty must be related to the patients' perception of the product, in terms of usefulness, ease to use, and satisfaction. The finding is helpful to understand patients' preference and support their behavioral adherence.

Utilizing a health-promotion model to predict self-care adherence in patients undergoing coronary angioplasty in Bushehr, Iran.
Self-care refers to the conscious actions and behaviors that patients engage in to maintain and promote their own health and to the decisions that they make about managing signs or symptoms. Despite the importance of self-care in improving the health status of patients with cardiovascular disease, such as those undergoing angioplasty, these patients do not implement self-care optimally. This study aimed to identify factors affecting self-care behaviors in cardiac patients undergoing angioplasty based on a health-promotion model. ⋯ According to the results of this study, it is suggested that designing and implementing training programs to improve self-efficacy and perceived social support of cardiovascular patients and also decreasing barriers to self-care may improve self-care behaviors among patients undergoing angioplasty.

Treatment Adherence And Persistence Among HIV-1 Patients Newly Starting Treatment.
To assess adherence and persistence with first-line single-tablet regimen (STR) and multi-tablet regimen (MTR) antiretroviral therapy (ART) in newly treated HIV-1 patients. ⋯ Patients receiving STRs were significantly less likely to discontinue therapy and were more adherent with their regimens, providing further evidence of greater adherence and persistence with STRs versus MTRs. However, there was a large proportion of patients who interrupted or discontinued treatment. Further research examining treatment patterns beyond first line is warranted.

Implementing post-orthodontic compliance among adolescents wearing removable retainers through Whatsapp: a pilot study.
Purpose: To determine whether the use of social media is useful in improving compliance and follow-up attendance among patients wearing retainers after orthodontic treatment. Patients and methods: Sixty post-orthodontic patients (aged 16-19 years), randomized in two groups: follow-up supported by participation in WhatsApp chat group (SG), and Control Group (CG). All patients were scheduled for quarterly check-ups for monitoring of orthodontic stability by measurement of intercanine width at the beginning of the study (t0) and every 4 months t1, t2, t3) for 1 year of observation. ⋯ Follow-up attendance was regular in both groups in the first 8 months of follow-up. After that, patient compliance decreased in the CG, with eight patients missing check-up appointments. Conclusion: Engaging adolescent patients directly through WhatsApp activity seems to increase regularity in wearing removable retainers, attendance to follow-up schedule, and yield better long-term outcome in terms of orthodontic stability and compliance.
