Comparison of health system responsiveness between HIV and non-HIV patients at infectious disease clinics in Yunnan, China.
China is in an epidemiologic transition period. Health system responsiveness (HSR) has become an increasing concern in China. With the burden of increasing human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection/acquired immune deficiency syndrome, responsiveness of HIV care is urgently needed. We aimed at comparing the experience of HSR between HIV-positive and non-HIV patients. ⋯ Perceptions of HSR experience were better among HIV patients except for prompt attention, which could not be explained by SES factors and difference in expectations. A reform is needed not to neglect the needs of non-HIV patients in the study area.

Patterns and predictors of long-term retention of inflammatory bowel or rheumatoid disease patients on innovator infliximab: an analysis of a Canadian prescriptions claims database.
Long-term effectiveness is an important factor when considering treatment decisions. ⋯ Real-world Canadian IBD and RD patients on IFX have good overall long-term treatment retention. Previous duration of IFX treatment predicts better future retention, and this knowledge could help inform treatment decisions when patients have been stable on IFX treatment for varying periods of time.

Factors affecting patient satisfaction with ecdemic medical care: a cross-sectional study in Nanchang, China.
This study aimed to determine the factors that influence patient satisfaction with ecdemic medical care. ⋯ Findings suggested that managers of the medical facilities should note the importance of increasing their publicity through a rapidly developing media, as well as the necessity of creating a more patient-friendly medical care experience. Hospitals should also focus on the medical care experience of patients with relatively lower and higher income levels, male ecdemic patients, and ecdemic outpatients.

Patient activation for self-management is associated with health status in patients with atrial fibrillation.
Higher levels of patient activation for self-managing health are associated with positive clinical and health care utilization outcomes. Identifying a patient's activation level can guide clinicians to tailor interventions to improve their health. Effective self-management of atrial fibrillation (AF) requires patient activation to participate in treatment decisions, prevent complications, and manage risk factors. Yet, little is known about activation in patients with AF. The purpose of this descriptive study was to identify patient activation levels and factors associated with activation in patients with AF. ⋯ Higher levels of patient activation in those with AF were associated with a more positive health status and educational attainment. Additional research to describe activation in patients with AF is warranted to identify patients at risk for low activation and to tailor interventions to activation level.

ReviewMedication adherence and persistence in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases: a narrative review.
Several drugs are available for the treatment of autoimmune rheumatic diseases; however, their effectiveness may be negatively influenced by inappropriate adherence. Low adherence and persistence rates have a significant impact on patient quality of life and are associated with health-related expenses. ⋯ Owing to the heterogeneity of the study results, we consider that the use of more than one method to assess adherence/persistence should yield more comprehensive and accurate data about patient adherence behavior. Patient-related factors should be included and analyzed more often in adherence studies as the former may be modified to improve patient adherence.
