Preferences and interests of diabetes social media users regarding a health-promotion intervention.
Nowadays, rapid and accessible participatory research on diabetes can be carried out using social media platforms. The objective of this study was to identify preferences and interests of diabetic social media users regarding a health-promotion intervention targeting them. ⋯ The approach used in this study was successful in reaching and involving participants quickly, and could also potentially increase diabetes patients' engagement and satisfaction with health-promotion interventions, enhance their sense of community, and thus help people attain healthier lifestyles. It is a limitation that our sample might not have been fully representative, as the most interested social media users might have chosen to participate.

Predicting treatment course and outcome using a promotion and prevention framework in a community sample of arthritis sufferers.
The present study examined the proposition that patients need to focus on something beyond simply "getting better". In a sample of arthritis sufferers, we distinguished individuals by the goals that motivated them - moving toward aspirational goals and maximizing gains (promotion focus) rather than obligations and minimizing losses (prevention focus) - and how these motivational styles influenced treatment. ⋯ A focus on positive approach-oriented goals may improve overall treatment response, whereas a focus on negative avoidance-oriented goals may degrade treatment response through reduced compliance and self-efficacy.

Chronic myeloid leukemia patients and treatment-free remission attitudes: a multicenter survey.
Treatment-free remission (TFR) is becoming an essential goal for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients in clinical practice. Few studies have emphasized patient attitudes or preferences about discontinuing tyrosine kinase inhibitors treatment. This study aimed to evaluate the characteristics of Chinese CML patients and their views and perspectives on TFR. ⋯ Patients who were younger with shorter disease duration and higher disease symptom burden were more likely to try TFR. They expressed several perceived noncost factors of TFR. Our data may help promote the management of CML and designing of clinical trials for TFR in some developed regions of China.

Medication adherence during laboratory workup for primary aldosteronism: pilot study.
Current hypertension guidelines stipulate that all incompatible medications be stopped before performing laboratory screening for aldosteronism, but patient adherence is unclear. We measured plasma drug concentrations to determine drug adherence and potential drug bias during biochemical tests. ⋯ Nonadherence was frequent during laboratory evaluations for aldosteronism advocating cautious interpretation of results. A multicenter study is desirable to set the stage for new screening protocols that should incorporate also incentives and checks of drug adherence.
