Randomized Controlled Trial
Manual versus target-controlled infusion of balanced propofol during diagnostic colonoscopy – A prospective randomized controlled trial.
There is an increasing interest in balanced propofol sedation (BPS) for colonoscopy in outpatient settings. Propofol is a potent anesthetic agent for this purpose and has a narrow therapeutic range, which increases a risk of cardiovascular and respiratory complications in case of improper administration. ⋯ MT is clinically as stable as TCI of propofol for deep sedation during colonoscopy, and endoscopists experienced the same comfort during colonoscopy in both groups. Thus, both combinations are suitable for deep sedation during diagnostic colonoscopy.

[Ondansetron, alfentanil and nitrous oxide in the prevention of pain on injection of propofol].
Propofol is a widely used intravenous anesthetic with a number of advantages over intravenous anesthetics used so far.The leading side effect is pain on injection. ⋯ Based on the results of our study we can conclude that intravenous ondansetron and alfentanil with venous occlusion can effectively prevent pain during IV use of propofol.

[Evaluation of neurophysiological parameters and good metabolic control in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus].
Numerous authors have indicated the beneficial effect of glycoregulation on micro- and macro-angiopathic complications. ⋯ We found a significant association between the metabolic control and NCV findings which suggests that good metabolic control influences the improvement of neurophysiological parameters in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Procalcitonin-based therapeutic strategy to reduce antibiotic use in patients after cardiac surgery: a randomized controlled trial.
Procalcitonin (PCT) is a thyroid gland prohormone, and its serum concentration is elevated in systemic bacterial infections. The diagnostic cut-off value of PCT in patients early after cardiac surgery remains unclear. ⋯ Procalcitonin-guided antibiotic treatment is safe and can significantly reduce the cost of postoperative care. Additionally, the antibiotic use during immediate postoperative course should be timely controlled and limited to documented bacterial infections.

[Evaluation of the intensive rehabilitation protocol after arthroscopically assisted anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction].
Optimal treatment of ACL (anterior cruciate injury) injuries is one of the most dynamic topics of contemporary orthopedics. Despite huge amount of publications on this subject, golden rehabilitation standard has not been established yet. ⋯ Our investigation has undoubtedly revealed that early intensive rehabilitation approach leads to faster functional recovery without complications compared to conventional rehabilitation treatment.
