To assess the risk of exacerbations of bronchial asthma (BA) in smoking patients with the asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) overlap (ACO) after inpatient treatment. ⋯ It was found that intensive and prolonged smoking increases the duration and reduces the effectiveness of inpatient treatment of patients with ACO, contributing to the preservation of air traps and low (forced expiratory volume in 1 second 60%) ventilation capacity of the lungs with the persistence of moderately reduced blood oxygenation; the risk of further exacerbations of BA in this phenotype of patients is significantly higher than in non-smoking patients with BA without combination with COPD.

Rebamipide is a cytoprotector developed in Japan where it has been successfully used for the treatment of stomach diseases for 30 years. Initially discovered effects of the drug included the induction of prostaglandins and the elimination of free oxygen radicals. ⋯ It is used in endoscopy, ophthalmology, chemotherapy, rheumatology. The aim of this review is to present current information about the pharmacological and clinical feature of rebamipide and to study its therapeutic potential.

To study liver function and portal hypertension, incidence and risk factors of liver-related complications, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), in patients with HCV-related liver cirrhosis achieved sustained virologic response (SVR) after direct-acting antiviral therapy. ⋯ The risk of HCC development remains in patients with HCV-related liver cirrhosis, despite on eradication of hepatitis C virus. Therefore, these patients should continue to undergo more intensive examination (ultrasound examination and determination of alfa-fetoprotein level each 36 months), including contrast-enhanced methods of imaging, the frequency of which should be determined.

To study the intestinal microbiota changes in patients with bronchial asthma (BA). ⋯ The results have indicated the differences in the intestinal microflora composition of healthy volunteers and patients with bronchial asthma in including the SIBO presence. It is necessary more detail study of the bacterial composition changes in the intestine for the bronchopulmonary pathology case.
