Review Comparative Study
[Beclomethasone dipropionate, budesonide and flunisolide in the treatment of bronchial asthma (a review of the literature and the authors' own research)].
Inhalation corticosteroids (beclometasone dipropionate, budesonide, flunisolide) proved effective against bronchial asthma (BA) and safe as they induce no severe systemic side effects. Of these three drugs side effects arise most frequently in administration of beclometasone dipropionate, least frequently of flunisolide. These inhalation corticosteroids are indicated both in non-steroid-dependent and steroid-dependent BA to reduce the dose of oral steroids or, if possible, for their complete discontinuation. Flunisolide is the most potent and effective of all inhalation corticosteroids used in current practice.

Case Reports Comparative Study
[Hemostatic disorders in severe forms of diphtheria and their correction with dicinon].
The presence of thrombohemorrhagic syndrome (THS) has been established in 28 patients with toxic severe diphtheria of oropharynx. In view of the leading role of platelet affection in progression of hemorrhagic disorders in diphtheria, dicinon treatment may be beneficial. THS implications in unfavourable outcome of the disease and prognostic significance of critical thrombocytopenia are considered.

The examination of 11 urticaria pigmentosa (UP) patients included allergological history, skin prick, scarification tests and intracutaneous tests with noninfectious and bee poison allergens, total and specific serum IgE measurements, in vitro reaction of histamine release from peripheral blood basophils induced by bee poison. The response of mastocytosis patients to insect sting was characterized by a rapid (within 5 min) development of severe systemic reactions or shock. The skin reactions and serum antibodies to bee poison were not registered in 9 of 11 patients. ⋯ The latter can be prevented by bee poison immunotherapy. IgE-antibody-mediated allergic reaction to bee sting could not be excluded in 2 patients. For them specific immunotherapy with bee poison, possibly with purified poison preparations containing the allergens alone, are indicated.

A new approach to continuous medical education of district physicians implies 4-5 annual (100-120 teaching periods) which are delivered to groups of 10 medical professionals for 4 days a week. The education is intended annually for 50 district therapists and other specialists and is especially helpful if outpatient service is organized according to the team principle (obstetrician, pediatrician, therapist). The lectures cover present-day advances in medical practice and research with special emphasis to borderline conditions.
