The iliac crest tangent (ICT) has recently emerged as a reliable landmark to correctly number the lumbosacral transitional vertebrae (LSTV). We retrospectively evaluated the reproducibility and accuracy of the ICT as a landmark in subjects without disc degeneration. ⋯ ICT does not seem to be a reliable landmark for correct numbering of LSTV in patients with no intervertebral disc degeneration.

Ig level assessment is frequently used in the diagnosis and follow-up of immunodeficiency, as well as in studies investigating the prevalence of low serum Ig level in specific diseases. ⋯ In this study, we found that the rates of low Ig level in a group of pediatric patients differed significantly when evaluated using three different reference systems for age-related serum Ig levels

We aimed to evaluate the relationship between YKL-40 and endothelial dysfunction in chronic kidney disease. ⋯ This study shows that YKL-40 increases with CKD stage and is negatively correlated with FMD measurements

8-Hydroxy-2’-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) is a biomarker of oxidative stress and has been implicated in many diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical value of plasma 8-OHdG level in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). ⋯ 8-OHdG is associated with spirometric severity, symptomatic severity, exacerbation risk, and inflammatory biomarkers in AECOPD patients, suggesting it as a promising biomarker for reflecting disease severity and guiding the choice of optimal therapeutic decision.

Polypharmacy and drug-related problems among people living with HIV/AIDS: a single-center experience
The HIV-infected population is aging, and the concomitant comorbidities increase the likelihood of polypharmacy. There is a scarcity of data for determining drug-related problems in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). ⋯ DRPs and polypharmacy are common among elderly PLWHA. More interventions are warranted to boost the quality of life in aging PLWHA.
