Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the major causes of cancer mortality worldwide. As a novel type of endogenous noncoding RNAs, circular RNAs (circRNAs) are formed by a covalent link between 5’ and 3’ ends. They are very stable and abundant in eukaryotes. As there were no reported studies on the expression profiles of circular RNA ITCH (cir-ITCH) and circHIPK3 in GC, in the current study, we aimed to delineate the expression profiles and clinicopathological relevance of these two circRNAs in GC tissues compared to their paired adjacent noncancerous tissues. ⋯ Cir_ITCH and circHIPK3 may have imperative roles in GC and serve in the future as potential prognostic biomarkers in GC.

Our research focused on the identification of easily available and sensitive markers for early prediction of acute kidney allograft rejection (AR). We aimed to investigate the association between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and AR in kidney transplant patients. ⋯ Our data showed that higher NLR values (>2.5) are associated with AR in kidney transplant patients, leading to the conclusion that NLR might be an easily available and useful marker option for detection of AR in this patient population.

Graves’ disease (GD) is more severe, requires a more complex treatment, and has a lower probability of achieving remission in children than in adults. There is no consensus on the appropriate duration of antithyroid drug (ATD) treatment. Surgical or radioactive iodine (RAI) treatments are not definitive and generally result in permanent hypothyroidism. This study’s goal was examining the effectiveness of ATD treatment in children and adolescents with GD and determining the risk factors of remission and relapse. ⋯ Long-term initial ATD treatment and long-term total ATD treatment were evaluated as positive parameters for the remission of Graves’ disease in children and adolescents. Our findings showed that the chance of long-term remission increases in direct proportion to the initial ATD treatment duration and the total ATD treatment duration.

Ruxolitinib, a JAK/STAT signaling pathway inhibitor targeted drug, has been approved for the controlling of disease symptoms and splenomegaly in patients with myeloproliferative neoplastic diseases. Recently, it has been proposed that ruxolitinib-induced JAK/STAT pathway inhibition in myelofibrosis is associated with an elevated frequency of aggressive B-cell lymphomas. However, the biological basis and significance of this pharmacobiological adverse event is unknown. The aim of this bioinformatics study is to detect any possible confounding effects of ruxolitinib on the genesis of lymphoproliferative disorders. ⋯ Based on the results of our present study, ruxolitinib may potentially lead to the pathological expression of the transcription factors important in lymphoma genesis, neoplastic commitment on the progenitor lymphoid cells, inhibition of repressor transcriptions protective for lymphoma development, inhibition of apoptosis, promotion of neoplastic proliferation, transcriptional activation, and proliferation of malignant neoplastic B cells.

Is there any difference between endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma in terms of expression of TRPM2 and TRPM7 ion channels?
This study compared TRPM2 and TRPM7 ion channel gene expression and immunohistochemical staining in endometrial hyperplasia and endometrium adenocarcinoma. ⋯ Reduction in TRPM7 ion channel activity may be a progression marker for endometrial hyperplasia regardless of the atypical criteria.
