The most appropriate surgical management of follicular neoplasm/suspicious for follicular neoplasm (FN) lesions is still contradictory. We aimed to evaluate the data of our patients with follicular neoplasm treated with thyroidectomy. ⋯ Since most FN cytology has been pathologically diagnosed with papillary cancer and some papillary cancer subtypes have been unfavorable pathologically, total thyroidectomy should be the most suitable treatment option in this group. Lobectomy with LwI is not suitable for patients with FNAB-proven FN cytology.

This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of vertebral Hounsfield unit (HU) values on routine contrast- enhanced abdominal computed tomography (CT) scans for the assessment of osteoporosis using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) T-scores as a reference standard. ⋯ The HUs derived from routine contrast-enhanced abdominal CT scans can be used for the evaluation of osteoporosis, without additional radiation exposure and cost.

The Analgesia Nociception Index (ANI) is a new method of identifying nociception-analgesia balance. In this study, we investigate the correlation between the ANI and numeric rating scale (NRS) values immediately before and after extubation. The NRS values were recorded in the postanesthesia care unit, in a group of patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy, with the aim of evaluating the potential use of ANI values in the prediction of postoperative pain levels. ⋯ We failed to identify a correlation between ANI and NRS values before and after extubation. Previous studies suggested that the ANI provides more valuable information in anesthetized patients, whereas our findings show that it is ineffective in the prediction of potential postoperative pain.

To define the cytomorphologic findings leading to difficulties in diagnosis of Warthin tumors (WTs). ⋯ Absence or lack of main features of WTs with or without presence of squamous-like cells, vacuolated cytoplasmic cells, and inflammatory reaction may cause diagnostic dilemma. The presence of the mast cells accompanied by epithelial tissue was striking for WT diagnosis.

Dermoscopy is a diagnostic tool that assists in imaging the epidermis and dermis. Although it has also started to be used to diagnose nonmelanocytic lesions recently, it has not been tested much on oral mucosal masses, such as oral mucoceles. This study aimed to investigate whether dermoscopy is a valuable tool in diagnosing oral mucoceles. ⋯ We concluded that there are 3 types of extravasation mucoceles dermoscopically and clinically, and these types may be stages of transition between each other.
