The aim of this study was to demonstrate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument (MNSI-TR). ⋯ The MNSI-TR is a valid and reliable method for evaluating diabetic peripheral neuropathy in Turkish speaking societies. It must be obtained a minimum of 4 points from the questionnaire part and a minimum of 2.5 points from the physical assessment part for the diagnosis of neuropathy

H. pylori has been found to be related to certain dermatological diseases. However, there is no data as yet to propose an association between H. pylori and pityriasis versicolor. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the association between H. pylori and pityriasis versicolor. ⋯ In this study, we found a statistically significant relationship between H. pylori infection and pityriasis versicolor. Therefore, H. pylori eradication could be considered in recurrent pityriasis versicolor patients with dyspepsia. New studies are required to clarify the effect of eradication treatment on the clinical course of pityriasis versicolor.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of successful percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty (PMBV) on left ventricular systolic functions using strain and strain rate echocardiography in moderate–severe mitral stenosis (MS) patients with normal left ventricular systolic function confirmed by conventional echocardiography. ⋯ Strain and strain rate echocardiography can be used for quantitative evaluation of the effect of PMBV on the left ventricular systolic functions in moderate–severe MS patients.

Symptomatic breast hypertrophy has a significant impact on the quality of life of women. The amount of tissue to be excised may be preoperatively estimated by an experienced surgeon. However, this remains a subjective assessment. Accurate quantification of the amount of breast tissue to be resected in the preoperative period will be a guide for both patient information and the surgeon during the operation. The aim of this study is to develop a new method based on simple measurements that can accurately estimate the resection weight in the preoperative period in a wide range of patients undergoing reduction mammoplasty. ⋯ With the formula described herein, one may accurately estimate the amount of tissue to be resected in a wide range of patients undergoing reduction mammoplasty whose sternal notch–nipple distances are between 28–42 cm. Additionally, because measurements for each breast are performed separately, breast asymmetry does not affect the results. In conclusion, the formula we devised is simple, applicable, and has a high accuracy rate.

Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are a group of hereditary metabolic diseases. The aim of this study was to share the previously unreported calvarial finding of internal hypertrophy of the occipitomastoid sutures (IHOMS) together with some other well-known cranial MRI findings in this patient series. ⋯ The abnormal cranial MRI findings of the MPS patients, including the newly identified IHOMS, may provide diagnostic clues to differentiate the type of the disease in radiological imaging.
