Colchicine is the mainstay of treatment in FMF. However, in daily practice it is not easy to maintain effective colchicine doses in a substantial number of patients due to its side effects. In this study, we aimed to investigate prevalence and risk factors for colchicine side effects that limit optimal drug dosing and cause permanent discontinuation. ⋯ Colchicine intolerance is an important problem in daily clinical practice, mainly due to diarrhea and liver toxicity. Suboptimal colchicine dosing is associated with complications.

The measurement of self-efficacy is an important step toward improving chronic disease management, enhancing adherence to treatment, and assessing patients with chronic diseases. The purpose of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Self-Efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease 6-Item Scale. ⋯ The Turkish version of the Self-Efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease 6-Item Scale is a valid and reliable instrument to assess perceived the self-efficacy level of patient with chronic disease.

From a pathophysiological point of view, inflammation is thought to be more dominant in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) stenosis than tricuspid aortic valve (TAV) stenosis. Our study aimed to determine the association between monocyte to high- density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio (MHR), a new inflammatory marker, and the speed of progression of stenosis and pathophysiology of BAV stenosis. ⋯ Our study showed a significant correlation between increased MHR and BAV. MHR was determined as a significant independent predictor for the speed of progression and diagnosis of severe BAV stenosis in multivariate analysis.

To identify, at an early stage of intensive care, patients who will require readmission to the intensive care unit (ICU) based on their National Early Warning Score (NEWS-d) at discharge. ⋯ A NEWS-d value of >7.5 demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity in identifying the risk of readmission for patients being discharged from ICU.

DNA nanostructures have many advantages over polymers and lipid based drug delivery agents such as biodegradability and biocompatibility. However their transfection rates and stability still limit their widely use in nanomedicine. In this study highly versatile and straightforward albumin coating preparation method is showed for DNA nanostructures. ⋯ In this study, a facile method is developed to synthesize protein conjugated-ATRP initiator further can be used in polymerization and coating DNA nanostructures. It is feasible for any protein containing cysteine amino acid.
