Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillus (ABPA) is a lung disease caused by hypersensitivity from Aspergillus fumigatus. Diagnostic criteria, staging systems and treatment methods for ABPA disease have been reported in studies evaluating populations, the majority of which are adult patients. Our study aimed to discuss the use of ABPA diagnostic criteria in children, the success of other alternative regimens to oral corticosteroids in the treatment of ABPA, and the changes that occur during treatment, in the light of the literature. ⋯ Today, although risk factors have been investigated for ABPA, it has not been revealed clearly. Both diagnostic criteria and treatment regimens have been described in research studies, mostly adults. In pediatric patients; clarification of diagnosis and treatment algorithms is necessary to prevent irreversible lung tissue damage and possible drug side effects.

Subthreshold yellow nondamaging retinal laser therapy (NRT) could provide a greater safety profile when compared to conventional laser methods. NRT may also improve diabetic macular edema (DME). This study aims to assess whether the severity of DME affects the efficacy of subthreshold yellow NRT. ⋯ Based on the results, NRT provided an improvement in BCVA and CFT in eyes with CFT less than 300 µm at the shortterm follow-up. However, CFT and BCVA outcomes after NRT were inferior to those achieved after previous ranibizumab treatment. No positive effect of NRT was not observed in patients with moderate and severe macular edema in DME treatment.

To evaluate the potential protective effects of boric acid (BA) in experimental cholestatic liver ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury model. ⋯ BA has promising results in the treatment of experimental IR injury of the cholestatic liver because of its antioxidant effects. It may be used in clinical practice after more extensive studies about the effects of BA on IR injury of the cholestatic liver.

To investigate the similarities and differences of renal clinical and renal pathology between IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and IgA vasculitis nephritis (IgAVN) in children. ⋯ The clinical manifestations of IgAN and IgAVN were similar, but the onset of IgAN was hidden and the clinical manifestations were relatively serious. Renal pathology was mainly glomerulosclerosis and renal tubular atrophy. IgAVN was characterized by acute onset and good renal function. Renal pathology was dominated by endothelial hyperplasia and crescent formation. These differences did not support the hypothesis that the two diseases are the same.

To the editor, Favipiravir (FVP) was developed against the influenza virus infection and licensed for the treatment of influenza in Japan [1]. In addition to influenza viruses, FVP demonstrates a broad-spectrum activity against many RNA viruses including Ebola, Lassa, rabies, and severe fever with thrombocytopenia [2]. FVP exhibited a comparable in vitro efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 with remdesivir in a cell culture model [3]. ⋯ The authors would like to acknowledge the contributions of numerous physicians, nurses, and healthcare personnel of Hacettepe University's COVID-19 response team for their selfless efforts in follow-up and care of the patients. Authors declare that there is no conflict of interest.
