Autoimmune bullous diseases, if left untreated, are life-threatening conditions affecting primarily skin and mucous membranes. These blistering disorders are characterized by epidermal or subepidermal detachment. Autoimmunity plays a key role in pathogenesis; therefore, immunosuppressive agents are the treatment of choice. The aim of this study is to document relative frequencies of different autoimmune bullous diseases, patient characteristics, treatment options, and side effects in patients presenting to our bullous skin disease center at İstanbul University, Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty. ⋯ This retrospective study summarizes the patient characteristics, comorbidities, treatment choices, and side effects during 16 years of clinical practice.

Is there any difference between oral preemptive pregabalin vs placebo administration on response to EBUS-TBNA under sedation?
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of preemptive oral pregabalin on hemodynamic response, anxiety, sedation, and recovery in patients who underwent endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) under sedation with intravenous ketamine-propofol combination. ⋯ Preemptive oral pregabalin, in addition to sedation with ketamine-propofol combination, was effective in providing limited hemodynamic response, restricted coughing reflex, and lower anxiety during EBUS-TBNA. Besides, with pregabalin usage, decreased anesthetics consumption, lower complication rate, and shorter recovery time might have contributed to safety of the procedure and comfort of the bronchoscopist.

Levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) is an effective treatment modality in the management of advanced Parkinson’s disease (PD) despite frequent adverse events and different rates of dropouts. Efficacy and safety data regarding Turkish patients on LCIG are limited. This study aims to report in detail the efficacy and adverse effect profile of LCIG among advanced PD patients from a Turkish center for movement disorders. ⋯ LCIG is an efficient treatment modality in the management of Turkish patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease. Although most of the patients had at least one AE, none of them dropped out. Patient selection, patient compliance, and collaborative management are important steps affecting the success of modality.

To evaluate diagnostic efficacy of the apparent diffusion coefficient measurements from tumor (ADCt) and tumor circumference hyperintensities (ADCtch) in different types of malignant intra-axial brain tumors. ⋯ The mean ADCt ratio allowed reliable differentiation of LGG and high grade brain tumors, including HGGs, metastases, and lymphoma. The mean ADCtch might be a better imaging biomarker in the differentiation of HHG from metastasis and lymphoma.

Family-centeredness of services for young children with Down syndrome: an observational study from Turkey
Physicians require information on the family centeredness of services for children with Down syndrome, one of the most frequently encountered disabilities in childhood. We aimed to determine the family-centeredness of services for young children with Down syndrome and using a bioecological theory framework we hypothesized that child, family and service-related factors would be associated with such services. ⋯ Our findings imply that limitations in family-centeredness of community service for young children with Down syndrome. Deficiencies of services particularly for children with less educated mothers need to be urgently resolved.
