In this study, we aim to investigate the efficacy of convalescent plasma (CP) according to blood groups (BGs) in the treatment of critically ill patients diagnosed with COVID-19. ⋯ In our study, it was observed that the efficiency of CP without anti-A antibody was lower than that of plasma containing anti-A antibody, although it was not statistically significant. This result is thought to be due to the anti-A antibody’s ability to block the ACE2 receptor. We believe that this hypothesis should be investigated in controlled studies with higher patient numbers.

The majority of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients present at dermatology clinics with cutaneous psoriasis up to 10 years prior to arthritis onset; therefore, applying a suitable screening tool to detect PsA early is essential for dermatologists. This study aimed to validate and evaluate the Persian version of two PsA screening questionnaires, the early arthritis for psoriatic patients questionnaire (EARP) and the psoriasis epidemiology screening tool (PEST) in Iranian psoriatic patients. ⋯ The Persian version of both questionnaires showed good performance. We suggest EARP as a screening tool for PsA in the dermatology clinics due to much higher sensitivity with acceptable specificity compared to PEST.

Subcapsular local anesthesia approach in percutaneous liver biopsy: Less pain, more Comfort.
To compare the subjective level of pain in patients who underwent an ultrasound-guided percutaneous liver biopsy (PLB) after either pericapsular anesthesia (PA) or subcapsular anesthesia (SA), based on the numeric rating scale (NRS). ⋯ Subcapsular anesthesia is a well-tolerated procedure compared to a pericapsular procedure. Furthermore, the application of a subcapsular anesthetic with a subcostal approach was reported to result in the lowest pain and greatest patient comfort.

The aim of this study is to compare clinical and oncologic outcomes of the high and low ligation techniques of the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) in rectal cancer patients treated with robotic surgery after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT). ⋯ In robotic rectal surgery, the low ligation technique of the IMA can reduce the rate of anastomosis stricture and provide similar oncological results as the high ligation technique.

The aim of the present study was to examine and compare the corpus callosum (CC) via histogram analysis (HA) on T1-weighted MR images of patients diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and healthy controls. ⋯ In the present study, analysis of CC with T1-weighted MR image HA demonstrated significant differences between FND patients and healthy controls. The study findings indicated that HA is a beneficial technique for demonstrating textural variations between the CCs of patients with FND and healthy controls using MR images.
