To evaluate the clinical and histopathological effects of fetal brain tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (FBTMSC) and fibrin glue (FG) on the facial nerve (FN) regeneration in rats with traumatic FN injury. ⋯ Clinically and histopathologically FBTMSC applied with FG may play a promising role as a regenerative treatment in posttraumatic FP.

During laparoscopic cholecystectomy operations, increases in intraabdominal, intrathoracic, and intracranial pressures (ICP) can be seen after pneumoperitoneum created for surgical imaging. Orbital ultrasonography (USG), which has been developed in recent years, is a method that can evaluate the ICP by measuring the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) from the eyeball. In our study, we aimed to evaluate whether different intraabdominal pressure values created during laparoscopic cholecystectomy operations correlate with ICP by measuring ONSD. ⋯ USG-guided ONSD measurements appear be a guide to ensure optimization of intraabdominal pressures and safe anesthesia administration for patients, especially those at risk of ICP increase, during laparoscopic surgery.

To investigate the optimal protocol for frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) cycles in patients who previously had a cycle cancellation due to uterine peristalsis (UP). ⋯ Endometrial preparation with letrozole significantly improves CPR and LBR in FET cycles of patients with previous cycle cancellations due to UP.

Advanced chronic periodontitis is observed rarely in acromegaly. Periodontal tissue including the alveolar bone is seemed to be spared from the systemic metabolic derangements of bone in this patient population. Chronic elevation of growth hormone, IGF-1, and bone morphogenetic proteins may play a role in periodontal tissue regeneration in acromegalics. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the potential roles of local gingival bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP) in periodontal tissue pathology in acromegaly. ⋯ Acromegaly is a disease with an unexpectedly low frequency of advanced periodontitis, irrespective of the long disease duration and pathognomonic oral manifestations. BMP-2 might have a protective role against chronic advanced periodontitis in these patients.

The aim of this study was to investigate the contribution of fluorine-18 (F-18) fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging in staging of pediatric osteosarcoma patients and also to evaluate the ability of metabolic parameters from the primary tumor to predict tumor necrosis rate (TNR). ⋯ F-18 FDG-PET/CT staging in pediatric osteosarcoma patients can effectively distinguish metastatic-localised disease. MTV and TLG values are important parameters, which can efficiently be used to predict TNR.
