Currently, hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection can be cured by direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). In this study, we aimed to find the rate of viremia among patients with a positive anti-HCV test and the rate of antiviral treatment given to viremic patients. We also aimed to reach patients with anti-HCV positivity but not tested for HCV-RNA, and patients, who were diagnosed with HCV-RNA positivity but received no treatment. ⋯ Although the rate of HCV-RNA testing was relatively high in patients with anti-HCV positivity, almost half of them did not receive treatment. We could reach only one-third of the patients, who were called for a follow-up visit, and only a few patients received treatment. Individuals with anti-HCV positivity should be referred to a specialist without delay and HCV-RNA testing should be performed immediately to achieve HCV elimination targets. The likelihood of difficulties in reaching patients later should be considered.

The rehabilitation of classical peripheral vestibular disorders is long and costly. Recently, interactive systems based on virtual reality (VR) technology have reduced the cost of vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) and made the process more enjoyable. This study aims to investigate the effects of VR-based VRT in patients diagnosed with peripheral vestibular hypofunction (PVH). ⋯ This study demonstrates that implementing a VR-based VRT protocol may be an efficient option to improve posture stability and the quality of life in patients with PVH. In addition, VR-based vestibular rehabilitation therapy has shown to be effective for PVH patients in the mid-term.

Familial Mediterranean fever [FMF] is the most common autoinflammatory disease characterized by inflammatory attacks of fever and polyserositis. Patients' quality of life is significantly affected due to recurrent excruciating pain attacks and complications. This study is performed to evaluate the parameters most affecting patients' satisfaction from treatment. ⋯ PASS score is significantly related to clinical parameters and quality of life. Patients' PASS scores and treatment choices are notably affected by the severity and frequency of attacks and absenteeism from work/school. Clinical activity and quality of life should be evaluated at every visit to provide patients' satisfaction with treatment.

Vitamin D insufficiency is a common public health problem that is often unrecognized in children with congenital heart disease, and is not generally evaluated at congenital heart disease (CHD) follow-up. Recent studies have suggested that inadequate vitamin D status may have an adverse effect on cardiovascular health. This study investigates the relationship between vitamin D levels and hemodynamic parameters in children with CHD. ⋯ The decreased levels of PTH, which is a proinflammatory marker, the increases in IL-10, which is an antiinflammatory cytokine, and the decreases in the number of WBC resulting from vitamin D treatment demonstrate the antiinflammatory effects of vitamin D. An improvement in EF means improvement in left ventricular contractility, while a decrease in RV MPI has been shown to improve the systolic and diastolic function of the right ventricle. These results suggest that vitamin D therapy has a positive effect on the heart, and so vitamin D levels should be evaluated during the routine follow-up of congenital heart disease.

: Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) monitoring demonstrates renal blood flow, perfusion, and oxygenation changes. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of pediatric endourological interventions (PEI) on regional oxygen saturation value (rSO2) usingrenal NIRS monitoring. ⋯ Although rSO2 significantly improves postoperatively, our data may suggest that congenital and acquired obstructive pathologies with hydronephrosis, prolonged operative time with continuous irrigation, and instrument movement in a narrow lumen may increase intrarenal pressure and the risk of renal hypoxia in endourological interventions. Preoperative evaluation of kidney functions and a meticulously well-planned intervention can prevent possible complications.
