Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the most common causes of death worldwide. Therefore, optimizing medical therapy in the comprehensive management of the disease, as well as including pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) in the treatment, is essential. The goal of our study was to determine the impact of PR on the survival of COPD patients. ⋯ Apart from incorporating PR into treatment in the comprehensive management of COPD, we demonstrated that maintaining a home exercise program for at least two years following PR increased 5-year survival significantly.

This study aims to reveal the prevalence of low handgrip strength in older patients with type 2 diabetes who have diabetic foot disease and to assess the association of handgrip strength with diabetic foot disease in older patients with type 2 diabetes. ⋯ Older patients with type 2 diabetes and diabetic foot disease had a higher rate of low handgrip strength. Low handgrip strength was significantly associated with the occurrence of diabetic foot ulcers and directly correlated with Wagner score in geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes.

Nicotine acts as an agonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). These receptors belong to a superfamily of ligand-gated ion channels. We previously demonstrated that nicotine increased electrical field stimulation (EFS)-induced contractile or relaxation responses, possibly by facilitating neurotransmitter release from nerve terminals in various rabbit tissues. Studies have shown that there is an interaction between the endocannabinoid and nicotinic systems. This study aimed to investigate the interaction between nicotine and the endocannabinoid system in the rabbit urine bladder and also investigate the enhancing effect of nicotine on EFS-induced contractile responses in rabbit isolated bladder smooth muscle and its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. ⋯ These results show that enhancing effect of nicotine in the smooth muscle of the rabbit bladder, even though it was not significant endocannabinoid system possibly have a role in nicotines' effect.

Acute pancreatitis is a clinical picture with a wide range of symptoms from mild inflammation to multiorgan failure and death. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Adalimumab (ADA) on inflammation and apoptosis in a cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis model in rats. ⋯ : It has been determined that the administration of high-dose ADA effectively alleviated the symptoms of acute pancreatitis and reduced the level of apoptosis. In line with the findings of our study, we have predicted that high-dose (20 mg/kg) ADA can be used as an effective and safe drug in the treatment of patients with acute pancreatitis.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Detection method of intraoperative awareness: a randomized comparative study.
: The incidence of intraoperative awareness varies in a wide range in the literature. The reasons for these different results include the questioning method used and the questioning time. The goal of this study is to compare the effectiveness of different questioning methods and times used in intraoperative awareness research for detecting the incidence. ⋯ The incidence of intraoperative awareness in Group 1 was significantly higher than in Group 2 in the evaluation conducted in the first 2 h. There was no significant difference in the determination of intraoperative awareness between questioning times in group 1.
