It was aimed to evaluate the positive effects of health behaviors (general hygiene, wearing face masks, physical distancing, and travel restrictions) acquired during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on the prevention of other infectious diseases in Ankara Province, Türkiye. ⋯ Undoubtedly, the experience gained from the pandemic struggle will guide us in shaping our future lives. From this point forward, we should be aware that living in crowded environments and as a highly mobile population, that unhygienic habits are unfavorable for the spread of all infectious diseases, and we should take care to continuously apply the precautions for healthy living in our new lifestyle.

Cupressus sempervirens is a tree native to the Mediterranean region. We aimed to investigate the frequency of sensitization/allergy to Cupressus arizonica pollen, which is not native to Anatolia. ⋯ C. arizonica sensitivity has increased in the East Mediterranean region, similarly to North Mediterranean data, and this is associated with the presence of allergy both clinically and in laboratory findings. C. arizonica should be included in the aeroallergen screening panels of children from the East Mediterranean.

People living with human immunodeficiency virus (PLWH) are getting older. Age-related comorbidities in PLWH result in polypharmacy and increase the risk for potential drug-drug interactions (pDDIs). This study aimed to evaluate how the rate of pDDIs would change if the treatment of patients receiving different combined antiretroviral therapies (ARTs) were theoretically changed with dolutegravir/lamivudine (DTG+3TC) or cabotegravir/rilpivirine (CAB+RPV). ⋯ The results suggest that dual treatment regimens can reduce pDDIs, resulting in better tolerance and probably higher quality of life among PLWH.

Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is one of the common causes of mortality and morbidity in newborns. Despite therapeutic hypothermia, an important treatment with proven efficacy, the morbidity and mortality rates remain high. The aim of this study was to neurodevelopmentally evaluate patients who underwent therapeutic hypothermia. ⋯ The time to start cooling is related to the neurodevelopmental outcomes of patients with HIE. The earlier cooling is started, the better the neurodevelopmental results. Despite therapeutic hypothermia, the neurodevelopmental development of infants may be adversely affected. These patients should be followed-up neurodevelopmentally for a long time.

Postauricular linear basal cell carcinomas related to medical mask cords: a possible association.
Linear basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a distinct clinical morphological variant of BCC. Although it has been speculated that trauma and the Koebner phenomenon may be linked to linear BCC, the pathophysiology has not yet been shown. Herein, 5 cases of BCC were presented that developed in the postauricular region as a result of trauma caused by the cords of the medical face masks worn during the COVID-19 pandemic.
