Comparative Study
Comparison of the efficiencies of intrathecal and intraganglionic injections in mouse dorsal root ganglion.
Dorsal root ganglia (DRG) are structures containing primary sensory neurons. Intraganglionic (IG) and intrathecal (IT) applications are the most common methods used for viral vector transfer to DRG. We aim to compare the efficiencies and pathological effects of IT and IG viral vector delivery methods to DRG, through in vivo imaging. ⋯ IT injection is a more suitable method for labeling DRG neurons in neurodegenerative injury models. However, when the innervation of DRG needs to be specifically studied, IT injection reduces this specificity due to its spread. In these studies, IG injection is the most suitable method for labeling single DRG neurons.

Comparative Study
Comparison of the effect of postweaning social isolation, enriched environment, and exercise training on learning and memory functions in rats.
To assess the effects of postweaning social isolation, an enriched environment, and exercise training on learning and memory functions in rats, as well as their relation with the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) concentrations in the hippocampus. ⋯ Postweaning social isolation may increase thigmotaxis behaviors. Postweaning social isolation, enriched environment, and exercise training did not affect the spatial learning, memory function, hippocampal BDNF or NGF levels in female rats.

Curcumin may have potential as a therapy for wound healing, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. It is not known whether curcumin can promote wound healing by activating Nrf2 signaling pathway and inducing apoptosis. This study determined the role of Nrf2 signaling pathway and apoptosis in curcumin-promoting skin wound healing. ⋯ Curcumin improves skin wound healing by activating the Nrf2 signaling pathway and inducing apoptosis in mice.

Levetiracetam (LEV) has been found to have an antihyperalgesic effect via acting on the adenosine system. However, the effects of LEV on the modulation of the adenosine system in the brain have not been elucidated in the prevention of seizures and epilepsy. The present study aimed to explore the possible LEV mechanisms of action in the adenosine signaling systems in an animal model of epilepsy. ⋯ Based on these results, it can be concluded that LEV modulates epileptogenesis by acting on the adenosine pathway in the central nervous system.

The subject of this study was to investigate the utility of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the cryopreservation process to reduce cryodamage and increase tissue viability. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, PRP-supplemented vitrification solution was used for the first time in the literature in this study in whole rat ovarian tissue vitrification. If PRP is to be used as a component in vitrification solution for rat ovarian tissue, the use of lower amounts of calcium or different methods in PRP activation, or the use of nonactivated PRP, should be considered from the beginning.
