Examination of the transport characteristics of pediatric trauma patients.
Injury is an important public health problem in the pediatric age group and one of the leading global causes of morbidity and mortality. The fact that pediatric trauma has a significant impact on patients, families, and countries shows the need for a better understanding of this phenomenon. This study investigates the demographic characteristics, reasons for admission to the hospital, and diagnoses of pediatric trauma patients who received prehospital emergency health services. ⋯ Targeted preventive measures and community education should address the specific causes of trauma that are more prevalent in certain age groups. Early identification of special patient groups that typically require secondary transport can reduce mortality and morbidity related to trauma by facilitating direct transfers to appropriate hospitals.

Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is an extracorporeal treatment method that removes large molecular weight substances from plasma. In our study, we aimed to retrospectively examine the indications and procedural methods of the patients who had undergone TPE, and the complications that occurred during the procedure. ⋯ Since significant adjustments are observed in clinical and laboratory values in sepsis-MOF, which is in the ASFA3 category, we believe that it should be evaluated in the ASFA2 or ASFA1 category in the early treatment of these diseases. In addition, we think that MIS-C cases, which have not been in any category according to ASFA, should be included in the ASFA2 or ASFA3 category, considering our TPE results.

Urethroplasty is the preferred treatment for hypospadias but is affected by the severity of anomalies, making it a complex procedure with potential postoperative complications. Following surgery, parents receive instructions and recommendations, whether from nurses or physicians, regardless of complication rates. However, nurses play a crucial role in educating caregivers before surgery and providing postoperative care during follow-up. The study aims to assess parents' knowledge and practices, as well as the frequency of complications in boys who underwent urethroplasty for hypospadias and received postoperative nurse-led care and whose parents received preoperative education against those of boys who underwent urethroplasty under routine hospital care. ⋯ Preoperative instructions enhance caregivers' knowledge and practices following urethroplasty, while postoperative nurse-led care reduces immediate postoperative complications associated with hypospadias in boys.

The incidence of adrenal tumors is increasing due to the widespread utilization of radiographic imaging techniques. Factors such as tumor size, radiological characteristics, and functionality of adrenal adenomas play crucial roles in diagnosis and subsequent management. In this retrospective study, we investigated the clinical, radiological, and surgical features of patients with adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) and evaluated their follow-up results. ⋯ Although the majority of AIs are nonfunctioning, the prevalence of functioning adrenal adenomas is not rare. Our findings suggest that adenoma size emerges as a valuable predictor for early detection of functioning adenomas. In addition, smaller masses appear to carry a lower risk of malignancy.
