Individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) may experience various speech-related issues, including decreased speech rate, increased pauses, and changes in speech rhythms. The purpose of this study was to compare the volumes of speech-related neuroanatomical structures in MS patients with those in a control group. ⋯ In our study, volume measurements of more speech-related areas were performed, unlike the few related studies previously conducted. We observed significant atrophy findings in the speech-related areas of the frontal, temporal, and parietal lobes of MS patients.

Male infertility rises for many reasons, along with age; therefore, we aimed to research the characterization of aquaporin-3, 7, and 8 in human sperm belonging to different age groups. ⋯ According to the results, it can be stated that aquaporin-3 and aquaporin-8 molecules were more expressed at age 26 to 35 years, and aquaporin-7 was densely expressed from age 18 to 25 years. If the characterization of these molecules is adversely affected, male infertility may eventually emerge. We recommend further advanced-level studies on this subject.

Chemical biological radiological nuclear threats are at an important point in the agenda of world health today, as they can cause mass deaths. B. mallei attracts attention as a potential biological warfare agent due to its features such as multidrug resistance, a rapid transmission mechanism via aerosol, the absence of a complete treatment protocol for the infection it causes, and the absence of an approved vaccine for protection against the bacteria. B. mallei suspect samples must be studied by experienced personnel in biosafety level III laboratories. B mallei is a difficult and troublesome pathogen to diagnose and many unknowns about B. mallei today. Therefore, the aim of the study was to determine the molecular differences and potential resistance genes of B mallei strains. ⋯ In terms of public health, it was thought that the data obtained as a result of our study about B mallei, which is defined as a biological weapon, is very valuable for creating treatment protocols to be applied to possible epidemics in the future. In addition, the available genetic epidemiological data of these strains belonging to a category that is dangerous to work with in a laboratory environment were reviewed.

Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease is an inherited kidney disease. This study aims to detect rare and common DNA variants of the PKHD1 gene using next-generation sequencing (NGS) and to classify them in terms of being pathogenic according to The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. ⋯ This fast and economical molecular diagnostic approach will provide a reliable prenatal diagnostic option, enabling definitive disease diagnosis and the identification of carriers.

Femoral neck fracture (FNF) seriously impact the health of the elderly and affect their long-term quality of life of the patients. This study aimed to determine whether combining the preoperative Fried Frailty Phenotype (FFP) with serum fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) and run-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) could better predict the prognosis of elderly patients with FNF 3 months after surgery. ⋯ Assessing FFP alongside serum FGFR3 and RUNX2 levels may aid in evaluating the prognosis of elderly patients with FNF 3 months after surgery.
