In this study, we aimed to evaluate the self-reported practice of physicians working in primary health care institutions in Elazığ Province about smoking cessation counseling. ⋯ It is seen that the smoking frequency of primary care physicians in Elazığ Province is the same as that of the general population, and the frequency of smoking cessation counseling is far behind the target. Physician population is an important target group that should not be ignored in the fight against smoking. In order to increase the frequency of physicians' smoking cessation counseling practice, there is a need to increase the number of physicians who receive smoking cessation counseling training.

Association between systemic zinc and oxidative stress levels and periodontal inflamed surface area.
Zinc is a structural component of some enzymes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential associations between serum zinc and oxidative stress levels and periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA). ⋯ PISA values were associated with decreasing serum zinc and TAS and increased TOS and OSI levels. Zinc deficiency can be associated with the severity of periodontal disease and higher oxidative stress levels.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory, pruritic, noncontagious, chronic relapsing skin disease. Skin barrier abnormalities, excessive T helper 2 activity, and immune dysregulation are held responsible. Androgens have a negative effect on the integrity of the epidermal skin barrier, while estrogen has a positive effect. We aimed to investigate whether hormones make a difference between healthy children and children with AD during minipuberty. ⋯ Especially in girls with AD, decreased estradiol and IGF-1 levels were observed compared to the controls during minipuberty. In the logistic regression model, decreased levels of serum estradiol, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, FT4, and IGF-1, and increased levels of IGFBP3 were associated with an increased likelihood of exhibiting atopic dermatitis.

Melanoma is one of the most aggressive cancers and treatment methods commonly used for patients with skin cancer include checkpoint and BRAF/MEK inhibitors, traditional chemotherapy drugs, radiation, and adjuvant treatment methods. Due to the resistance and toxic effects that patients develop against the drugs, an effective treatment method has not been developed for melanoma yet. In this study we evaluated the anticancer effect of usnic acid (UA) on A-375 melanoma cells and human epidermal melanocytes using the xCELLigence real-time cell analysis system. ⋯ As a result of the obtained findings, it could be concluded that UA might be a promising candidate drug molecule for melanoma treatment in the future through topical application or encapsulation with nanocarriers.

This study evaluates anatomical reduction and rigid internal fixation of mandibular condyle fractures using the preauricular retroparotid approach. It also discusses advantages, deficiencies, and associated complications of the technique. ⋯ Several surgical techniques have been described for mandibular condyle fractures, each with its own benefits and limitations.
